I am 52 years old and have been involved in all sports since I was about 4 years old. My love and focus was and is still, baseball. I play competitively in an age 28+ league here in Florida. As you can imagine, after years of beating up my body, I developed more and more aches and pains. I've torn hamstrings, separated my shoulder about 6 times, broken bones, so with all these and getting older, they were becoming unbearable. A friend told me about Dr. Norika and her practice and a multifaceted approach, one being acupuncture. To say the least, I was very skeptical. I met with Dr. Norika and spent our first visit talking about my past, medications I had used in the past, injuries, treatments, etc. she was very detailed with respect to what my issues were and expectations through various types of treatments. She has an amazing insight to the body and which treatments to use for various aches and pains. One thing Dr. Norika focused on mainly, was getting to the root of the pain problem. She focused on acupuncture, laser treatment, manual therapy and massage. I was truly amazed! After our first treatment, I felt noticeably better. The true test was playing my next baseball game. I felt years younger and an amazing feeling playing with much less pain. The combination of treatments: acupuncture, laser, manual, massage and posture readjustment, was my "fountain of youth." Dr. Norika didn't stop there. She continued to give me "homework", things to continue working on at home to help myself feel better. We also talked about nutrition and how my nutrition can make a huge impact on how I feel daily. She gave me a nutrition plan and we talked over the months readjusting it from time to time, to get it where I can really feel a difference. If it weren't for Dr. Norika, I would have had to stop playing baseball and wouldn't have had the energy to get out and be as active as I am with my two boys. I can't thank her enough! And for all you skeptics out there, like I was, she improved my life 100%! Thanks Doc! Bill W.

Mr. Huang is excellent. He is both professional and personable. I have been to massage therapists from NY to LA and I believe Stephen is the best ever - and I've liked my previous massage therapists. My father is 85. He fell injuring his back several wks ago. He has been trated by chiropractor, MD and so forth but his back still hurts. Since I like massages, I looked for someone for my dad to see. Stephen called. Told me when he could come. Stephen came to the house and did a marvelous massage on my dad. My dad's back pain is better than it has been since he hurt it. We are having Stephen back next week as that is what is recommended. My dad turns 86 next week and to watch the care and concern Stephen showed to my dad brought tears to my eyes. Mr. Huang is a very good man.

I was having bad problems with plantar fasciitis. I gave up on western conventional medicine. I do not like the possible side effects and when I stopped taking it the pain started again. I have a job that has me on my feet for long hours and the pain was getting unbearable. I met Dr. Yang at M&M vitamins in Lake Mary and went to see him for treatment. I could not believe the relief I got after treatment. After several treatments my pain was gone. Dr. Yang is very knowledgeable and compassionate. I know that he genuinely cares. I still see him once a month for maintenance. I would and do recommend Dr. Yang to everyone.

This place was amazing! The staff was so nice! I called and asked several questions before scheduling my appointment. They took the time to answer each one. If you are trying to get pregnant please give them a call. I'm 35 years old and going through my second round of IVF. I wanted to incorporate acupuncture in hopes of a better outcome. Dr. Tynes was wonderful. She took the time to listen, ask questions, and explain what my treatment plan would look like in order to increase my chances of getting pregnant. The atmosphere of the office was so relaxing and inviting. They offered me alkaline water and an assortment of organic teas. During my treatment I was offered aromatherapy and fertility guided imagery music. I've never experienced anything like this before. I will definitely stick to my treatment plan. I feel so optimistic about getting pregnant. Oh, and the price was unbeatable for all that you receive.

Dr. Anca has treated me on a number of occasions for pain. I am a former competitive athlete that has sustained multiple injuries including being struck by a car while training on my bike. Dr. Anca has treated my neck and back pain as well as nerve and severe headaches. Her results are immediate and impressive. Other docs see me for a few minutes and prescribe drugs. Dr. Anca treats and heals during your visit. I strongly recommend her....she will make a positive difference! .......................Justin L. Longwood, Florida

In addition, we also offer community acupuncture and health workshops/lectures/seminars. Our goal at Acupuncture & Homeopathy Center is to provide quality care to all patients in a compassionate and friendly atmosphere. Physician Elly Tuchler A.P and her staff are dedicated to meeting the needs of patients to enhance their capacity to move toward optimum health and vitality with the use of effective natural therapies. Our intention in healing goes beyond treating a symptom. The symptom is often an apparent sign of something that is going on much deeper level in the body. Our goal is to strengthen your body's own ability to heal itself, in a manner that is less invasive and resulting in no side effects. We are excited to now offer "community acupuncture" to the Orlando and surrounding areas. The community acupuncture movement is spreading worldwide, fueled by the desire to make the benefits of acupuncture accessible and affordable within your budget and lifestyle. At our clinic, you'll receive acupuncture in a tranquil, group setting where multiple patients receive individualized treatments at the same room. Patients relax in a comfortable massage table with the needles in for about 20-40 minutes. This style of treatment is inspired by how acupuncture is traditionally practiced in Asia, where low-cost treatments are offered in a group setting, with great success. We offer a $20-$45 sliding scale. Our patients pay what works for them, no questions asked. We know that our patients get amazing results when they can come in consistently for acupuncture. Our sliding scale makes this possible. We are able to offer affordable treatments and create a sustainable social business in hopes that our patients spread the word and bring in their friends and family to be treated with them.

    How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture works by restoring the body’s natural healing powers. Acupuncture involves placing very thin needles into specific points on the body to influence the body’s energy flow and help the body heal itself in a natural way. In traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is linked to the belief that disease is caused by disruptions to the flow of energy (called qi in Chinese) in the body. The acupuncturist places whisper-thin needles into the arms, back, neck and other areas where the chi (or energy flow) has been blocked. The acupuncture needles stimulate points on or under the skin called acupuncture points or acupressure points, releasing this qi. These pathways — called “meridians” — become re-stimulated by the needles to bring blood and healing to the body. In Western medicine, acupuncture has been proved to relieve pain and help provide healing and relief from painful symptoms associated with everything from headaches to asthma to cancer. Western medicine sees the use of the needles as a way to stimulate the body’s nervous system, thereby prompting healing.

What are the benefits of acupuncture?

There are many proven health benefits of acupuncture, whether you’re seeking short-term relief or need help with a chronic health condition. This alternative healing is likely why millions of adults nationwide get acupuncture treatments each year. Acupuncture provides pain relief, can help speed the body’s natural healing process, and has also been proved to have positive outcomes on mental health concerns such as depression. Acupuncture can also help relieve discomfort associated with chronic and terminal illnesses. For example, acupuncture has been proved to be effective in helping cancer patients manage pain, nausea and vomiting, fatigue, hot flashes, xerostomia (dry mouth), neuropathy (nervous system problems), anxiety, depression and sleep disturbances, according to Cancer.gov. Acupuncture is a safe and effective alternative to opioids and other pain medications, which not only are hard on the body but also present the risk of addiction. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services found that people had less pain or were better able to manage pain when they received acupuncture as part of their health treatment.

    What is an acupuncture treatment?

An acupuncture treatment is a type of integrative health care session that uses needles (and sometimes heat and/or electrical stimulation) to stimulate the body’s nervous system to begin a healing process. Long practiced in traditional Chinese medicine and other Eastern cultures, acupuncture has gained widespread acceptance and use as a complementary and integrative part of healing in Western medicine. During an acupuncture treatment, the patient lies in a relaxed position on a table that is very similar to a massage table. The acupuncturist, having done a diagnosis of health concerns and determined a course of treatment, will insert thin stainless steel needles into the prescribed acupuncture points. These points are determined by the patient’s health needs. The practitioner may gently manipulate the needles to trigger a healing response in the body. Typically there is no pain associated with the treatment. A session may use anywhere from 6-30 needles or more, depending on what illness is being treated. The needles can remain in place for 5-30 minutes, with 15 minutes being a common time. Acupuncture treatments are often prescribed in a series, based on patient need.

How often do you need to get acupuncture?

How often you need acupuncture really depends on the health condition that is being treated. Acute issues such as a pulled groin or short-term digestion problems will likely require fewer treatments than a chronic disease such as some types of cancer. Dr. Lee Hullender Rubin, speaking with the Acupuncture Now Foundation, likens acupuncture sessions to a “dose” of medication prescribed by a doctor. If you have a condition like high blood pressure and are prescribed a medication to treat it, you wouldn’t take one dosage and be done. Likewise, for ongoing health conditions, Dr. Hullender Rubin explains that more than one session of acupuncture is likely in order. “For pain-related diseases, it seems 12 to 20 sessions is a reasonable intervention to achieve stable results,” says Dr. Hullender Rubin. For more acute (short-term) conditions, Dr. Tony Chon says that treatment might consist of two to six acupuncture sessions.
