We called him after our current dj cancelled 12 hours before our wedding on New Year's Day. We messaged DJ JAY and he replied within minutes to see if he could be of service. We told him what we needed and without hesitation he took our job and did one hell of a job. He provided MASTER OF CEREMONY duties and back ground music. He did a super job with the play list that we provided not to mention this was a completely last minute notice on New Year's Eve around 5 pm- he put our wedding together with little sleep if any from a prior engagement he had that night. We couldn't believe the outstanding work he provided with his upbeat engery on our wedding day- our wedding began at 1030 am he was at our venue at 9 am (he had to drive 2hrs to get there) I/we could write a book on him. If we ever need some kind of service like this again he will be first on our list to call heck we would even fly him to where we are having our event. I want to write more but I know you all got the idea- HIRE DJ JAY without hesitation. Love him and thank you, thank you, thank you Jay. You made our wedding day even more special!

After interviewing several DJ's for her indoor wedding reception, my daughter felt most comfortable with Jay. He communicated well, his price was reasonable, and most importantly he understood the vibe she was looking for. The DJ really sets the mood of the party, keeps things moving, and acts as the MC. Jay did a marvelous job in every way.

D Jay is THE choice you need to make for a dj for your special event. Jay responded immediately and was extremely professional in all of his interactions with us. He was easy to work with, and he walked this very busy bride to be through the process to ensure all of our favorite songs were played. Jay set up early, and made all of the appropriate announcements to keep our event moving forward and guests out on the dance floor. Jay was a great DJ for our event which was a 60th birthday party, with a mixed crowd of ages. Music selection was perfect and had something for everyone. We had such a great time...he even did some dances with us as our “instructor!” Would definitely recommend.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The base price quoted normally includes not only the coverage requested but travel time and setup/teardown as well. For nighttime and indoor events I also provide a nice dance light setup at no additional charge. There are some options available including additional lighting (uplighting) and a second speaker setup for outdoor or separate wedding ceremonies.
My wife is a photographer so we can offer package discounts if both services are used.
And payment terms are pretty simple and painless. Normally a down payment of $50 to $100 (depending on the size of the job) is requested with the remaining balance due upon my arrival.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I've got some great online planning tools I use to help clients to plan out their agenda/schedule for the evening, list the key events and people involved so I can be fully prepared to make the important announcements, and offer my clients many choices when it comes to special requests or types of music they'd prefer to have throughout the evening.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm an amateur musician and play the guitar, bass guitar, trumpet and a little piano. I minored in music theory and was involved in sound engineering in college. And being an engineer I have a great appreciation and understanding of the technical tools which can assist the DJ in providing great results.
