Everything was perfect from initial contact to finished job. First of all, I had never heard of Thumbtack before. I googled, "Carpet cleaners near me" and clicked on one of the top links which took me to Thumbtack. I liked that Thumbtack gave me recommendations and base prices and that I could pick from there. Next, I looked for good, honest reviews. After reading nearly all of the reviews, I chose Suncoast Carpet & Tile Cleaning. They were super quick to respond by phone and Mike's wife, Michelle, was super sweet and answered all of my questions. I had Mike come over to give us an estimate because we wanted to know total cost for all of our needs. When he gave me the estimate, the price seemed so low, I thought he made a mistake. He rechecked his numbers and assured me that the total was correct. When cleaning day arrived, they were very prompt and even arrived a few minutes early. They cleaned our living room carpet, stairs, upstairs landing, three bedrooms and sectional sofa. Everything smelled so fresh and clean and even old pet stains were gone! They also steam cleaned and sealed our kitchen tile, pantry and downstairs bathroom. I wish I could say that I could do as good of a job on the kitchen floor, but it hasn't looked this good since it was new! FYI, if you have Suncoast do any work for you and you're like me and think that their prices are more than reasonable, you can leave Mikey a tip. He works really hard (and FAST!) and deserves it. :-) But don't hire them because they're cheap, hire them because they do a good job!

With the recent rain and heat the flower beds were so overgrown that the house looked awful. Jeremiah did an exceptional job of weeding all the beds and cleaning up after the work was done. Due to a recent surgery, I can't do that type of work right now and Jeremiah is going to come back, as needed, to keep the flower beds looking great. I will be hiring him again and would recommend him to anyone that needs an honest, hard working professional to handle a project.

Ana is very kind and she does a thorough job. I love the way the house smells after the cleaning. I also love that she uses good cleaning products. She does my entire house top to bottom! She is great with my daughter and even kind and patient with our barking puppy who can be annoying if in his cage or stealing her gloves and dust things when we let him run free. I trust her in our home even if I can’t be home while she cleans. I am very happy with her work and have been using her services for almost a year now and she has been consistently great!

Josh helped with a move out cleaning at a condo I own. The condo was cleaned by the tenant before they moved out but I just needed some finishing touches and overall cleaning before renting it out. It took 2.5 hours. Josh did a good job cleaning the window sill, the kitchen counter, the cooking range, bathroom & mirrors. Josh even explained to me about black mold and to take precaution. He explained areas that would require more cleaning and bleaching and explained what would need to be done. I am impressed by his dedication to work and the fact that he was very open and communicated very well. He adjusted his schedule to my needs as well. I would recommend Josh anytime!

About

We are a roof cleaning company. We have been receiving News Journal Readers Choice Awards for 18 years in a row. The black stains on your shingle roof are caused by fungus growth. This growth is caused by airborne microscopic fungus spores, which are abundant in subtropical climates such as Florida. These microscopic spores attach to the surface and sustain its nourishment from the organic matter from which the roof is manufactured. Limestone used to manufacture the granules, which give the roof its color, tar or asphalt, is the material combined with fiberglass that makes up the shingle. Once these spores have attacked those nutrients, you soon begin to see the aftermath. Fungus -- this is mold or algae that spread rapidly over the roof and attacks. Left alone, it can shorten the life of the roof by as much as 5 to 7 years, causing premature roof replacement. Shingle manufacturers have taken measures to prevent this fungus from attacking the roofing materials without success, by adding copper granules along with the colored granules (fungus resistant) -- the magic word to protect the manufacturers (resistant) not (fungus proof). These added copper granules are soon eliminated. The fungus and staining can be safely removed with the proper procedure. We offer the safest roof cleaning process available and recommended by ARMA (Asphalt Roofing Manufactures Association). Our roof cleaning chemicals are manufactured for roof cleaning and will safely restore your roof to a like-new appearance. This is guaranteed! Our process has restored over 500,000 roofs since 1968. Don't replace your roof; restore it to a like-new appearance. Tile Roofs The black staining on tile roofs is caused by the same microscopic spores. Although tile roof are manufactured of concrete and clay, these spores attach to the surface and germinate with the residue and debris that collect on the roof. Tile roof can be easily cleaned, but extra precautions must be taken. Tile roofs of today are color pigmented and coated with a glaze coating to protect them from the elements. Some feel that you can pressure wash a tile roof just as you would a concrete driveway. This could not be further from the truth. Pressure washing a tile roof will clean it, but it too will damage and/or remove the glaze coating that protects the tile from UV rays and other damaging elements. Damaging the glaze coating can and will cause chalking and eventually breakdown. Left alone, this fungus growth can attack the blatter under the tiles and possibly makes it way into the attic space. Roof-Bright of Florida and our recently expanded Flagler County office Kleen Roof Company has over 20 years experience in restoring both tile and shingle roofs to a like-new appearance. We are locally owned and operated and located in Ormond Beach, Florida. Our service personnel are fully trained and certified by one of the largest roof cleaning institutes in America. Our nonpressure HVLP roof cleaning system will restore your roof to a like-new appearance without the damaging effects of pressure washing or scrubbing. We provide free estimates.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

Who cleans couches?

Even if your furniture doesn’t appear dirty or stained, your couches are collecting just as much dust, pollen, germs, pet hair and dander, and even food crumbs as your carpets. In general, the same professionals who clean your carpets and drapes can also clean your couches. Carpet cleaners usually offer upholstery cleaning services as well, and may offer a discount if you have your carpets cleaned at the same time. Alternatively, you can choose from a range of professional upholstery cleaners in your area who specialize in cleaning different types of upholstery fabrics, including delicate antique fabrics and other hard-to-clean materials such as suede. In addition to deep-cleaning the entire piece of furniture, sofa cleaners can spot-treat food, pet, and oil and grease stains. Most professionals also offer services to sanitize and deodorize your furniture and apply protectants to prevent future stains. As with carpets, experts recommend that you have your upholstered furniture cleaned once every year or two, depending on how much use it gets and whether you have children and pets.
