FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was in a master's program at St. Thomas University School of Law, studying international human rights law. Based on my writing ability, I was selected to be on the executive board of the inaugural Intercultural Human Rights Law Review. Because of the international nature of the law review, many of our articles were written by legal professionals who were not native English speakers, and other who were. These articles had to be edited to Standard American English. Whether I was editing the work of a native speaker or an international lawyer from another country, I loved every minute I spent working on the law review. After I completed my master's, I found a job in publishing, advising authors on publishing services, editing book manuscripts, and writing press releases.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When preparing to publish your book, one step you should never skip is professional editing. Helping authors to publish a book they can be proud of is my talent, my profession, and my passion! I work with experienced writers, new writers, non-native English writers, and anyone who has a story to tell or information to share. A good editor will eliminate errors in grammar, usage, sentence structure, and will make your text flow--all without changing your voice as author . . . and this is what I will do for you!
