Chinyere is an exceptional person/trainer. She is a warm, passionate person with inspirational vigor, one of the kindest people I have ever known. She has extensive experience with diverse training methods. She trains with care and compassion. She works with the whole person, mentally, emotionally, and physically. I met Chinyere in January 2017, she was highly recommend to me and I was not disappointed. I am 64 years old and was at a critical time in my life, recovering from breast cancer surgery. I worked with Chinyere during my treatments and recovery. She taught me a great deal and because of her expertise, thoughtfulness, diverse training methods and her genuine concern about my health, I am mentally, emotionally and physically stronger today. My strength, balance, endurance and stamina improved greatly all because of her encouragement and persistent help. She pushed me through the rough times. Chinyere is a knowledge skilled trainer with a passion to connect with her clients, She is a pleasure to work with and talk to. Because of my positive outcome and experience, I also would like to take this opportunity to recommend Chinyere as a superb professional whole body fitness trainer. She goes beyond all expectations. When I first came to see Dr. Lambert I was in the worst pain of my life. I have been a massage therapist for 16 years and developed a multitude of problems relating to my neck. I was unable to work and unable to even lay down without intense pain. I had been to Orthopedic doctors and pain management doctors. I had spinal nerve blocks, cortisone shots and months of physical therapy. Nothing was working. Within weeks of seeing Dr. Lambert my pain level was significantly decreased and I was feeling great both physically and emotionally. Dr Lambert is a highly competent physician with an innate ability to release the body's own healing process. I have sent several of my massage clients to see Dr Lambert and most if not all of them do not feel the need for weekly massages anymore. Instead they can now come for massage to maintain a healthy balance instead of relieving chronic pain. It may not be good for my business to send my clients to see Dr Lambert, but it is definitely good for my clients to achieve a pain free life. I am forever grateful to Dr Lambert, he is an amazing physician and person.

I have been a client of Tim's for over six years. My body had a major reaction to Lipitor after taking it for seven years. I developed major muscle damage in my upper and lower legs and almost ended up in a wheel chair. With Tim's therapy sessions he was able to keep my legs moving and active when I could not. He kept me out of a wheel chair and due to his efforts I am able to do a mile long walk and have some of my life style back. I recommend him for anyone having difficulty with their body's ability for movement. You may not get the same results I did, each body is different. I do know that Tim pretty much gave me back an active life style and I will never be able to thank him enough for that. He has always found time to fit me in when I needed a session.

They do great work. I was referred here by a friend but I was in pain and anxious about the visit so I didn't know what to expect. Almost immediately I felt comfortable with Dr. Ricky. I was afraid of medical bills, etc but they handled it all for me. I haven't had to pay anything out of pocket and wait to get reimbursed and I have had to spend anytime on the phone with my insurance. I didn't feel too much better after my first visit but by the end, I was confident that he had me on the right treatment plan so I continued. I'm so glad I did, every visit since, I could notice some improvement, weeks later, I feel so much better. I really enjoy the staff, I'm definitely seeing results. My only complaint since I started was that they didn't have a hook in the massage therapy room for your shirt. I brought it up to the office manager, the next visit they had one. These guys helped me out, they're great in my book, I'm very grateful and was happy to write a positive review.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are the different types of physical therapy?

Physical therapists work with people who have been injured or people who are ill to improve their movement and help them manage their pain. The U.S. Department of Labor explains that physical therapists “are often an important part of rehabilitation, treatment, and prevention of patients with chronic conditions, illnesses, or injuries.” Physical therapists can also choose to specialize in one of nine areas. According to the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, these areas of specialization are:

    • Cardiovascular and Pulmonary
    • Clinical Electrophysiology
    • Geriatrics
    • Neurology
    • Oncology
    • Orthopaedics
    • Pediatrics
    • Sports and
    • Women's Health

The national average cost for a physical therapist is $60 to $80, although it will cost more if the patient is paying for services out of pocket rather than through insurance. If you have insurance and want to work with a physical therapist for a specialty area, such as oncology or geriatrics, you may need a referral from your general practitioner. Patients who are paying directly for services can often contact the physical therapist directly.

What exactly does a physical therapist do?

A physical therapist is a health care provider who assists patients with mobility improvement and pain management. Often patients are referred to a physical therapist by a primary care doctor or specialist for help recovering from a surgery or traumatic injury, such as a car crash. Physical therapists help patients manage pain that results from chronic disease and other illness. Physical therapy can help enhance mobility when patients are faced with neurological disorders, such as after a stroke, and provide relief from arthritis or other mobility and pain issues.

A physical therapist uses medical exercise equipment and exercises to empower patients to regain flexibility and mobility where possible. They may use treadmills, steps, medicine balls, resistance bands, isometric exercises, weights and more to improve muscle control and movement. A physical therapist uses physical movement to help heal the patient, but also can sometimes prescribe medication as appropriate. A physical therapist can also become board certified in one of nine specialty areas.

    Why is physical therapy important?

Physical therapy can help you recover range of motion and ease pain after injury, accident or illness. Many people are prescribed physical therapy by their primary care doctor or specialist after a car accident, surgery or sports-related injury. You don’t need a doctor’s referral to start physical therapy, but unless you are paying out of pocket for the services, your insurance provider might require a referral. Physical therapy is also a medical solution for pain associated with chronic illness such as osteoarthritis and can be used for recovery after a stroke or other neurological disorders.

Physical therapy teaches you how to move your body in a safe and healing way to regain strength and movement. During a physical therapy session, the PT will teach you to use medical exercise equipment and approved exercises to regain your lost flexibility and improve your mobility where possible. You may use treadmills, steps, medicine balls, resistance bands, isometric exercises, weights and more. From young children to seniors, patients of any age can benefit from the science-based movements and exercises that encourage flexibility, rebuild muscle, and ease stiff joints.

How much does a physical therapy session cost?

The national average cost for a physical therapy session is $60 to $80, although the cost may be higher if the patient pays out of pocket for the services instead of being covered by insurance. Physical therapy sessions may last from 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the therapist and your medical needs. When paying out of pocket, session rates may range from an average of $75-$300 or more, depending on the location, length of session, and specialization of the therapist. Standard out-of-pocket rates average $150 per session. According to the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, physical therapists may become board certified in one of nine specialties: Cardiovascular and Pulmonary, Clinical Electrophysiology, Geriatrics, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopaedics, Pediatrics, Sports, and Women's Health. To receive this board specialist certification, the physical therapist must complete a minimum of 2,000 hours of clinical work in their specialty area and pass an exam. A physical therapist who is board certified in a specialty may charge higher rates to account for their advanced training and expertise.
