Introduction

My strong point is that I am very invested in my students. I do not keep a large studio on purpose, so that I can personally devote all my energy and attention to each student. That, plus my performing background in several venues of singing, gives me an edge with the competition. I have performed Broadway showtunes, ballads, sacred music, popular songs and Opera. I also keep my fee very affordable. The personal interaction with each student and the wonder of seeing them develop vocally in ways they never thought they could do. I listen to their beginning lessons and a few months later they already sound like a brand new person. This motivates me to work harder and try different approaches to the individual in order to see them realize their dream of "singing"....

I have been taking voice lessons with Mrs.Blackhall for 7 years now, and I am not exaggerating when I say that she has not only helped me grow tremendously as a singer but as a person. I used to be very shy and had tiny little voice, but she taught me to have self confidence and how to properly project my voice. She also helped me increased my range to almost 2.5 octaves. As a teacher she is patient and supportive. She can tell if you have not practiced, which means that slacking off is not an option, which is fantastic for people (especially teenagers) who might lack adequate drive. In summation, Mrs.Blackhall is a phenomenal singing teacher, if you really want to learn she is absolutely perfect.

I have been studying with Ms. Blackhall for approximately 14 months. Ms. Blackhall is an extraordinary teacher with a knowledge base that is second to none. Usually instructors with such a vast knowledge base lack the ability to convey this knowledge to the student in a format that is beneficial to the student. That is not the case with Ms. Blackhall. She has experience teaching subjects other than music and uses that experience profoundly. Additionally, Ms. Blackhall has the unique ability to identify student weaknesses AND design a curriculum to eliminate that weakness. If there were an option to rate this instructor with more than 5 stars, I would do so without hesitation.

Our experience with Mrs. Blackhall has been exceptional and opened so many doors for our son who started lessons with Her at an early age. Not only has he been able to sing at an advanced level but has stage presence for theatrical productions and has the confidence to enter talent shows and singing and speech competitions. Also because of voice lessons he has a greater command of foreign languages and is able to enunciate words in Latin and as well as Spanish, French and German. Her level of professionalism is beautifully matched with the care and compassion she has for the well-being and personal cultivation of each child. I see how thrilled she is at recital as she encourages each pupil to perform at their highest level. I can’t say enough about what a treasure she is to know and have in our lives.

I have been working with Ms. Alice Blackhall for almost three years and I have experienced so much growth in my vocal ability. She stresses vocal technique and the longevity and health of the voice above techniques that strain, stress, and damage the voice. I have found that using the techniques taught by Ms. Alice, I am able to sing multiple styles of music without feeling vocal strain. On a personal level, I love that and. Alice really cares for each of her students. I am an adult singer who had been out of practice for quite some time and had lost confidence in my vocal ability. Not only did Ms. Alice work to sharpen my skills, but she personally invested in me and helped to build my confidence. She demands professionalism and expects her singers to prepare, practice, and work as professionals, but she also takes the time to be interpersonal. She has become both my teacher and my friend. Alice Blackhall is the consummate professional instructor, expecting and generating excellence from her voice students. She is simultaneously compassionate and demanding, meeting her students where they are in their growth and pushing them to achieve at the height of their potential. And her results, measured by the success of her students, are extraordinary. Her students are routinely selected to perform in national and international honor choirs, Florida's all-state choirs, and other prestigious venues. My own daughter has grown enormously under Alice's instruction. As a result of Alice's guidance, my daughter has been selected three times to perform in Florida's highest all-state choirs and was selected to perform at Carnegie Hall with an international honor choir, among other honors. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lesson are paid in advance, four lessons at a time. This will enable me to block the specific date and time for this one student. A cancellation policy is in place and will be discussed with the student at the time of signing on. There are no discounts, except if more than one member of the same family are signing on for lessons. This is decided individually.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will first schedule a meeting, whereby both the student and I will assess each other in terms of abilities and personalities and decide whether or not we can work together successfully. I will listen to a few scales from the new student and decide if this is an individual that would profit from my teaching. I would then offer a 15 minute complimentary/basic lesson to give the student and myself an idea of what we are both looking for.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The potential customer will need to review my resume and discover the breath of my experience as a professional singer and voice teacher, as well as my educational background.
