FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Definitely. I'm consistently going to workshops and conferences, including the international American Association of Christian Counselors conference last year. I've constantly got my nose in a book, and when the books aren't fiction, I'm reading up on the latest approaches to counseling, including mindfulness and integrating spirituality into counseling.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
My specialties include helping people heal from grief and loss, decreasing anxiety and depression, navigating life transitions, and working through spiritual concerns. I love working with adolescents (really!) up through elderly adults. I'm also certified in PREPARE/ENRICH, which is a highly effective program for marriage and relationship counseling.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
That one of the most important aspects of a good counseling relationship is "fit", or what we call in the counseling biz, "therapeutic alliance." It's important that you seek out the right counselor "fit" for you to affect the most change.
