Introduction: I provide two effective mind/body therapies: heart-centered hypnotherapy and brainspotting. I've provided a description of each below and invite you to contact me with additional questions.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy or trance work is a process that allows therapists and clients to take advantage of the mind-body connection to foster healing. With hypnotherapy, the client is voluntarily induced into a trance, a relaxed and altered state of consciousness marked by decreased breadth and increased awareness. Hypnotherapy involves a deliberate choice to enter this state of consciousness for a goal beyond relaxation: to focus concentration and use suggestion to promote and guide health and healing. Individuals cannot only experience hypnosis from a licensed practitioner, they can also become comfortable practicing and eventually mastering the techniques themselves for personal development. While the therapist serves as a teacher or guide, the only person who can hypnotize you, is you, since trance is a latent potential of your own mind. All hypnosis is really self-hypnosis.
What is heart-centered hypnotherapy?
Heart-centered clinical hypnotherapy is a much deeper process than regular hypnotherapy or talk therapy. It is performed by a licensed psychotherapist or psychologist. Heart Centered Clinical Hypnotherapy is psychotherapy in a relaxed state of consciousness to get underneath self-sabotaging patterns of behavior and agreements made in childhood that are now tripping up the adult. The hypnotic state in which this work is done is light, and there is no possibility of implanting suggestions that the conscious mind does not agree to. The client in the hypnotic state used for clinical hypnotherapy is fully aware of his or her surroundings and interacts with the therapist with the goal of opening a door between the subconscious and the conscious mind in order to effect beneficial lifelong transformation.
Heart Centered Hypnotherapy is an incredibly effective therapeutic methodology for treating a great many therapeutic challenges like PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, shock, or trauma. Though not guaranteed, therapeutic breakthrough can occur in just a few sessions, even with clients who were previously at a complete healing standstill.
It has also proven effective in dealing with weight loss, smoking cessation, addictive behaviors, sleep problems, and phobias. It is used to help reinforce positive motivation, improve self-discipline and increase willpower. In addition, it can be used to help people change their behavior and attitudes about eating, physical activity, and healthy self-care.
What is brainspotting?
Brainspotting, is a brain-body based psychotherapy, where the therapist gets direct access into a person's nervous system (where they are holding their problems and their traumas). Through the visual field, we monitor and make use of what a person is feeling in his body. The body is a wonderful way to access the deepest parts of the brain. Essentially, we access people's brain and nervous system through the eyes and with awareness of sensation throughout the body where people feel joy and distress.
How can brainspotting be used?
Brainspotting is designed to be effective on a variety of issues or challenges. It can be used to heal most emotional situations, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, or work problems. It is also used for physical problems, physical pain, tension, and recovery from accidents. It can also be used for enhancing creativity, expanding performance abilities and overcoming creative blocks. Brainspotting can help us heal or improve any aspect of the human experience.
