When I had multiple lawyers calling me, instead I called Michael Gumprecht because I could tell his personal handling of the case would make a big difference. It absolutely did. In Decatur last summer, I was holding my son while getting out of a car and a car hit me and kept going. We were both injured and I was furious. Michael located the hit and run driver and filed a lawsuit, eventually making them pay us the full amount of the policy. Justice served! He kept us informed every step of the way and would not stop until we received full and fair justice. Most importantly, Michael was always 100% honest and trustworthy. His personal commitment to my best interest and obtaining justice was extremely important to my family. Thank you, highest recommendation possible.

Very impressed so far. I said I was too injured so a very nice and smart lawyer named Jared came to my house tonight and answered all my questions and make me feel so much better. Happy I called Weinstein Firm.

Mr Reidy took the time and explained in detail yet understandable terms about my current situation. I don't know many attorneys that would call you after hours and explore options after a long day. I recommend Mr. Reidy and encourage anyone to use his services. Thank you Mr. Reidy

Ms. Bergstrom was very pleasure to speak with. She wasn't like most attorneys get to the point because all the other conversation is not important. Everything I said she listened to. Can't wait to work with her.

I researched many attorneys before deciding to use Allison. She was the only one who answered all of my questions in a manner I could understand (not using a lot of legal jargon over my head), did not rush me, made me feel just as important as a big time client, was extremely patient, thorough, and even reviewed some items for me not on my “list.” Some attorneys only care about money, it’s very evident she cares about helping her clients in a straight forward, go getter, prompt manner. Could not recommend her more for items big and small!

Brendan is one of the best attorneys I’ve encountered. Working in the medical field I know attention to detail is key when looking for an attorney. Brendan raises the bar with his work. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my case.

After several years of financial struggle, I made the difficult decision to contact an attorney to weigh the pros/cons of filing for a Chapter 7. I solicited recommendations from friends and family members. I contacted several of those recommended, but Gina was the only who returned my call in a timely manner. She was always to the point and very clear on all the details involving my Chapter 7 filing. Throughout the whole process, there were no surprises, and all went smoothly through the case discharge. I would definitely recommend her for anyone considering filing. In fact, because of my experience with her, I now think people who are struggling should not think twice as I did for so long, especially with good lawyer like Gina on their side!

This attorney was very punctual in calling me, patiently listened to my description of my legal matters, and was very responsive to my questions. I believe she is very professional, compassionate, courteous and knowledgeable. Unlike many attorneys I have dealt with, she has a genuine interest in a good outcome for her clients and is less interested about the money she can get from them.

I don't have enough words to describe the level of personal attention to detail that Daniele Johnson put into my case. The first thing I noticed was how much more calm and relaxed she made me feel than other attorneys I had spoken to. This is a huge plus when going through difficult times. Her confidence translated into me being able to perform at my best in my life, while she handled my case. There just aren't many professionals out there with this level of caring and kindness.

Thought I was screwed. Contacted several different attorneys before being referred to Mrs. Lewis. Was told by all of them there was nothing they could do, or they wanted to charge me thousands of dollars. But not Mrs. Lewis. She was more than determined to help me with my case and didn't charge me an arm and a leg for her help. Anytime I needed her she was available to speak with. I never felt worried about my case. I never had to walk in a courtroom and she got my charges dropped. I don't know how she did it but she is a master at what she does. If you hire someone else, you're making a mistake. Best lawyer I've ever had.

I had an attorney and she just dropped my case. I had no idea what to do. I had already been denied benefits four times, so I felt completely hopeless. I was staying with my daughter and that’s when I saw Mr. Keener on the TV. There was just something about him that made me know they could win my case. I worked with Jackie, and she was just awesome. Thanks to Jackie’s hard work I was able to get my disability benefits. I have been referring my friends to the firm, too. The firm was just the right one for me, and I am so thankful for The Keener Law Firm.

About

I am a California barred attorney with experience in civil litigation that is available to assist Georgia attorneys with research and writing backlogs in their own practices. I am experienced in propounding discovery, writing complaints, answers and more. Also available to help vet and proofread. NOTE TO NON-ATTORNEY INDIVIDUALS: I am not barred by the State of Georgia. I cannot represent clients in the jurisdiction and do not hold myself out as able to do so. I can only lend my writing and research skills to currently barred attorneys who are in good standing.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does an immigration attorney do?

Immigration lawyers help their clients through all phases of the immigration process. Experts on immigration law, they are legally qualified to represent U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Immigration lawyers also provide assistance to visitors here on student, work or travel visas, and can represent clients who may have an expired visa or who have overstayed their visa.

You can hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with petitioning for renewing a permanent resident or green card, navigating the naturalization process, submitting an employee-based petition for a work visa, filing a petition for a family member, or representing you or a loved one who is facing detention or deportation, as well as replacing, extending or changing a current visa, green card or work permit. The immigration process is highly complex, with multiple hearings, paperwork and requirements. Hiring a legal expert to represent you can help you make your best effort in the process. When researching immigration lawyers, it is very important to verify their qualifications and find a reputable attorney. Read reviews and verify that the immigration lawyer is licensed by your state before paying any fees.

How do you find a good real estate lawyer?

If buying or selling property feels overwhelming and the thought of finding a good real estate lawyer seems daunting, you’re in luck. There are some simple steps to follow for finding a trustworthy, affordable real estate lawyer to help with your property and legal needs.

  • Determine what kind of real estate lawyer you need. Many states require a real estate attorney to handle sale closing documents. For more complex matters such as a real estate deal gone awry or foreclosure, you’ll want to find an attorney who has successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Look for online reviews of real estate lawyers in your area. Verify that they have proven experience closing or winning cases like yours and that they are in good standing with the state bar association.
  • Choose two or three lawyers to interview. Many offer a free consultation to learn about your case and provide information about rates. For standard real estate closing services, in-depth interviewing might not be necessary.
  • Ask about their rates and whether they charge by the hour or provide services for a flat fee. Ask whether a retainer is required, and what the total bill should be for a case like yours.
  • Ask for a write-up of the services that will be covered by the projected costs.
  • Make sure you like the real estate agent and they treat you with respect. Confirm whether they or another person will be working on your case and make sure you’re comfortable with all members of their team.
  • Pay the retainer and hire your lawyer.

What is a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer fights on your behalf if you’ve been injured physically, psychologically, economically or in reputation. This injury may be the result of neglect or malicious intent of another person, or it could be at the hands of a business, government or other entity. Personal injury lawyers specialize in tort law, which is the law of civil wrongs like car accidents, company wrongdoing, unlawful imprisonment and more.

To become qualified to be a personal injury lawyer in the United States, a person must earn a bachelor’s degree, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from a law school. Most states then require the person to pass the bar exam to become licensed to practice law. Unlike many attorneys who require a retainer, personal injury lawyers often work on contingency fees. This means that in lieu of payment upfront, they receive an agreed-upon percentage of the settlement in case of a win.

What does a real estate lawyer do?

A real estate lawyer represents their client’s best interest in all matters related to the sale, purchase and ownership of real estate. They are experts in real estate law. In states that require a real estate lawyer to close home sales, the lawyer must review and finalize all documents before the deal can be legally completed. Real estate lawyers also help clients legally protect their rights when entering, exiting or renegotiating a real estate deal. You can hire a real estate lawyer as an individual or as a business. A real estate lawyer can help with negotiation, addressing mortgage fraud, managing foreclosures and bankruptcy, transfers of titles and deeds, property ownership disputes, zoning issues, creating a co-ownership contract for joint purchase of a property, and much more. Real estate lawyers can also protect you from issues that result when a known problem was not properly disclosed by the previous owner. Overall, real estate lawyers are an added cost when it comes to buying and selling property, but they also ensure your best interests are met, and that you and the people you are doing business with comply with the law.

What kind of lawyer does wills?

No one likes talking about death, but it’s better than leaving your children or siblings to sort out your estate. A clearly planned will can make the time of mourning easier for everyone. An estate attorney will develop a legal will, create trusts on your behalf, and ensure the proper execution of your estate after you pass away.

Family attorneys and estate attorneys, also called probate and wills attorneys, can each prepare wills. The type of lawyer best suited to prepare your will depends on your situation. Most family attorneys provide services to prepare basic wills, including bequeathing property and personal items to family or naming a guardian for minor children. However, estate attorneys specialize in preparing wills in more complex situations. Consider hiring an estate attorney if you:

  • Have a large number of assets, especially those subject to estate taxes
  • Want to create a trust, such as allowing a spouse to live in your home until he or she dies and then leaving it to your children, or set up long-term care for a beneficiary
  • Have an ownership stake in a business
  • Expect someone to contest your will
  • Want to disinherit your spouse
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
