Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My work is 100% about the customer. If you are not satisfied, you don't pay. Since my projects vary so much, I cannot offer insurance, however, this significantly lowers costs without sacrificing the quality of work. The best part about doing these projects is their unique nature. I love analyzing the problems, looking at the possible solutions, and finding the one best for the project and the customer.

Claiborne, a.k.a. Handy Man Clay (HMC), was a pleasure to work with. My issue was a non-functioning outdoor electrical receptacle, HMC arrived promptly, whipped out his diagnostic toolkit, spotted the wiring issue in short order and agreed to return with parts to complete the replacement/repair at my convenience. There's a lot of competition in the Fix-It field - and no doubt quite a few folks who either are not up to the task or are somewhat lacking in dedication and/or scruples - so I do my research before initiating contact. In my case, HMC's references were primarily word-of-mouth and were invariably positive. This is a bright, enthusiastic young man and I recommend him without reservation.

Over the years Vagovic Heating and Air Conditioning has hired Claiborne to carry parts and equipment, clean work areas and run errands. Last week Claiborne was hired as an installation helper in Augusta GA. for a two day job. He did an outstanding job. He took interest in all assignments, paid attention to instructions, learned quickly, and stayed on task all two days. He is a quick study, careful with tools and takes pride in doing a job well. Claiborne has a mechanical aptitude and is willing to work hard. I will definitely hire him again, any time he is in Augusta.

We had an immediate need but no time to tackle what we thought was a simple job: temporarily removing the sliding glass bathtub shower doors for easier tub access and installing a shower curtain rod. Claiborne took care of everything promptly and made it look straightforward (turned out, it wasn't!) - and kept the parts intact and organized so we can have the doors reinstalled in the future. Fine job. Definitely recommend Handy Man Clay!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing varies by job, however clients can expect an upfront estimate. If the estimate changes during the project for any reason, I will explain fully the unforeseen change and negotiate a compromise before any more work is done.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have two experienced and gifted uncles who do similar work, one in HVAC, the other in contracting/remodeling and historical restoration. I also have a grandfather who spent many years as a mechanical engineer and continues working on smaller projects around the home. After working with all of them, I have developed a broad skill set. With my pickup truck, among other tools, handy-man jobs are the best way to use my skills to provide a valuable service.
