- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, I take CPE classes each year and am a member of NATP which provides a vast amount of information in their library.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had rental property for 11 1/2 years. I went to a tax service to have my return prepared and the accountant made a huge mistake. I was audited for 5 consecutive years and was unable to defend myself with IRS.I took the classes at H&R Block and was able to amend my returns for the past three years and retrieve the money that I had lost. I worked for H&R Block for two years and worked the following five years with other tax services before I decided that I wanted to help other people in my situation.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Prepare their tax returns, counsel them when they owe because they are claiming too many dependents. Complete W-4's for them if they don't understand how to complete forms, provide checklist for deductions so that they can maximize their refunds. Discuss tax deferred retirement accounts to lower their tax liability.
