FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Private lessons are currently $50-75/hour at our locations. (Peachtree Corners, Duluth, and Peachtree City) Group lessons depend on the number of students and the location. We also do in-home lessons
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I do a free initial 20 minute consultation. In this meeting, I engage the client in conversation, to assess what their needs are in terms of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and listening skills. If a client is interested in accent reduction, I note the types of sounds that the client has trouble forming. Once the lessons start, I aim to make the lessons as interactive as possible. Rather than "covering material," my goal is to allow students to combine the English they already have learned by making conversation. I make notes during the conversation about areas they need help in, and we then do short study breaks on those areas, then try to incorporate them in further conversation. For accent reduction clients, we do particular exercises customized to whatever sounds are problematic for THEM.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's Degree from Georgia State University in Applied Linguistics and ESL, and I have over 20 years' experience in teaching ESL and accent reduction. I have taught courses at Kennesaw State University in the TESOL certificate program. I have a certificate from the University of Georgia in teaching accent reduction. I speak Japanese fluently, and have a basic knowledge of Spanish.
