I've used them for electrical repair service. Kian was on-time and was very helpful. They've diagnosed and fixed the issue rather quickly, and also provide some recommendations on how to save energy. The price for their service is quite reasonable. I am very happy with their work and I intend to give them a call for any repair or project in the future.

Jerome was great. He did a porch painting and repair project for me. He also installed a ceiling fan. He was prompt, communicative, professional, friendly. The project took forever because of the terrible weather. He was out there working any time there was a break in the weather that allowed it. He was not able to get my ceiling fan to work properly because of old wiring. He worked on it for many hours, really went the extra mile when other people would have given up. I ended up having to get an electrician because it's an old house.

Stephen and Jeff came and picked up a chest that needed repair. They took it, repaired the problem and returned it to my house a week later. They did a great job and were courteous and professional. I would recommend for a furniture repair/refinish project.

Extremely professional and knowledgeable. He gave me more than one option to repair my roof and siding, based on my budget. I'll be honest, I am on a budget so I chose the cheaper option. However, I have to admit the finished project looked as though I chose the most expensive option. After seeing his completed work I have decided to hire him for other home repairs. Overall, I have to give him the highest rating and suggest others take advantage of his honest quality service.

The guys were very courteous and friendly and didn't leave any mess as everything was spotless when they left. I highly recommend Rush and his crew for gutter installation at your home today!

I have used Doug, anything for bucks for small jobs and have been very satisfied with the work ethic he has provided to complete the job in a timely manner and be fair with his fees. He presently installed ceiling planks for me in my home, and I am totally satisfied with job. He still has to come back to install crown molding to finish, but most of work is complete at a reasonable $$ rate. I will use him again for future repairs or install.

I hired Nando to patch a cased opening in my home that was left unfinished from an expansion project. He arrived in a timely manner and was courteous and very professional. I found his pricing very fair. He not only did a great job on the drywall repair but also installed base board trim that was needed that match the existing baseboard trim and shoe moulding that was in the room. I will definitely hire him again on many more projects.

Wes and his team were fantastic. They were consistently on time and did an outstanding job on my repair. My rooftop deck had been leaking for months and it was giving me quite a bit of anxiety. Wes was able to give me an extremely reasonable quote and followed through on the job in an incredibly professional manner. I would highly recommend Titan Home Restoration for any home repair.

Brasco Construction and Remodeling provided us with an outstanding job of siding installation, Hardie shingle shakes, porch ceilings and exterior trim. Fred was given a complicated repair situation and took it on with no problem. He was on site much of the time and stuck with his bid, even when he came upon an unexpected application. There was no constant need for communication like some contractors, he just got the job done. We hope to use Fred and his contacts again in the very near future. Fred is the "real deal" and that is hard to find these days. Nothing but the highest praise for this company!!

They were a pleasure to have around working on the project. It was a good size project with roofing, siding, other exterior work and interior work, i.e. painting, ceiling repairs, door installations and etc. They stayed busy until it was time to clean-up and quit for the day. No up-sell and honest. We will definitely hire them again. I Highly recommend.

I hired Mr. Blount to install ceramic tile on the entire first floor of my townhouse. He has been very easy to work with from my initial contact with him to the completion of the install. Mr. Blount's estimate for the job was reasonable and his work was excellent. He adhered to his work schedule, with no inconvenience to me, and finished on time. As a result of such a positive first experience with Mr Blount, I have contracted him to complete other renovations in my home. I am sure he will do a great job on those projects as well.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

  • Trim repair:
    • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
    • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
  • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
  • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
    • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
    • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
      • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
