Possibly the worst experience I've had with any contractor. And sadly it's not even about the tiling part. They tiled the bathrooms fine, but left the house like a war zone. Then to top it off, declined to fix the damage.
Here are the issues and the pictures are attached:
1) Didn't put down any protection on the floor or carpet until I pointed it out. The wood floor was scratched up all around their path. They finally brought in rosin paper the next day.
2) Moved the toilet into the bedroom and it leaked all over the carpet. I had to tell them about it and they "fixed it" by moving it to another spot.
3) Moved the sink in the lower floor bathroom onto the wood floor where it also leaked and formed a black spot. Again, I had to point it out to them and they claimed it was a knot (see picture).
4) Broke the toilet paper holder.
5) Pulled an existing role off the bathroom wall and just left it there without, I don't know, maybe, putting it back on, since that's what they do.
6) At the end the guy was just going to leave until I reminded him that the sink was still in the living room, and I had to help him move it back in, like I did the toilet in the other bathroom. Imagine. Paying a contractor and then helping them install toilets and sinks.
7) After they left I found a leak inside the wall which was sending the water into the bathroom from the wall, which, given their rough handling of everything, must have damaged the pipe inside the wall. There were no leaks before this job.
I was going to fix everything else myself, but this last one was a bridge too far. I contacted them and I was told they couldn't help me because they don't do plumbing. Seriously?
I contacted Thumbtack about it and they were taking their sweet time about the "investigation", so I just got it fixed myself. Never doing business with either of these entities.

I just wanted to thank the guys from J&R Tile for the wonderful job they did on my shower. The attention to detail is awesome, they cut the joint tiles so perfectly, not just making the lines match up but they made the two pieces of the tile at the joints look like one tile. Outstanding work!! It almost looks like the tile was folded at the joint to continue up the wall. They took precautions to protect the area they were working in and cleaned up behind themselves each day. The price was very reasonable especially considering the quality of the work. I highly recommend them to anyone needing tile work. Thanks again guys.
