Instead of teaching only a "piano lesson" or a "drum lesson", I incorporate music theory, ear training, sight singing, percussion, composition, and sometimes the recorder into a well balanced music lesson that happens to be at the piano or the drumset. As a result, my students become well prepared to move forward with the piano and drum set, but they also become quite prepared for any other instrument that they end up pursuing in the future. The piano has the range of the entire orchestra and is the best instrument to choose in order to begin the journey and exploration of the study of music. I love teaching kids as well as adults of all ages, and I love sharing decades of knowledge to give students a huge head start in their musical pursuits. I tailor each lesson to the needs and abilities of the student in a way that is forward looking, yet fun and well rounded. It is my desire to enhance the life of every student in order to make the joy of music very personal and satisfying for life.
