Levon Chatman came and did the estimate, naming the paint prep details I cared about having done. Called several times afterwards saying just give him a chance. The worker he brought with him seemed like he would definitely do work so I said yes to both paint and a solid wood floor. Pay arrangements were I buy the materials, and $2600 for both jobs. Condo, 850 ft sq and not doing flooring in either bathroom or the laundry closet. On day one he went to Home Depot and got stranded for 3 hours or so because something was wrong with his Dodge Charger and I got back to the job site when he did. The work had progressed nicely in his absence so I was liking Travis, his worker. Later on we agreed on an additional $600 to do the trim for the flooring and some floor thing that was sort of included in the original price, sort of not. I offered $200 per day and the balance on completion. He talked me into $300 per day and balance on completion. A week in, on a job where he had yet to have showed up for a full day, he begged for the following day's money that day because he was trying to get rent together. I agreed. The following day he whined about not having gas money, I supplied another $100 of our total balance. The day after that he had a 3 hour workday. The following day I showed up at 9am, the earliest he'd come to the job with the rest of the leveling cement he'd finally "realized" he needed. (My estimate of how much cement we'd need was more accurate than his and I have yet to lay a floor anywhere) 11:48 he came in. Asked for the remainder of the balance, then when I told him I had the 2 mattresses in my van for him and his worker so they wouldn't have to drive back and forth from Warner Robins to College Park, he said he wouldn't be staying. (Something about visiting a gravesite of a relative) I left, fired him by group text with Travis in the conversation and texted Travis directly to finish the job for the remainder of the balance. Levon Chatman said I still have to pay because we have a written contract. I'm feeling quite good about my chances in court. P.S. Travis's number is 478-336-0184 He agreed to stay at the property until it's done, and take a few $ a day and the balance on completion. I also am taking him back to Warner Robins since I fired his ride.
