Kara has been a life saver for our business which has grown in the past few years and became unmanageable for us due to it's growth. Through her expertise and tax accounting business sense, she has gotten us to a point where we now want to be and that is being current on a monthly basis. She worked very hard to get us to that point and I strongly recommend her if you need a professional accountant with integrity and honesty.

Wave Bookkeeping did a great job to convert our accounting records to a paperless, computerized, cloud based reporting format that we can access from anywhere. They seamlessly brought us up to date for our taxes.

They are a good and reliable tax consulting partner. We’ve always found them receptive and ready to answer questions when we call them. Their tax preparation service is very thorough and things always go so quickly with them. We have now been using them for three years to go over our books and prepare our tax returns. They have never let us down and always provided great service. Last year, we couldn’t get our books completed in time and asked them to come in at the last minute to help us out. They were very responsive and even though it was their busy season, they managed to go over our accounts quickly and get the returns submitted with a week to spare. This year, we got in touch with their preparers early on to make sure everything stays on schedule. Great tax preparation firm.

Profit Builder 4 You does what the name implies. We work with the small business owner to help you to lower your taxes, increase your profits and improve your cash flow. An industry benchmark report (a custom financial analysis of your business) is done for free ($500-$750 value), which enables us to identify the strengths and weaknesses in your business. We can then set up a program to help you shape and grow your business, so that it will be thriving in the profit zone, by eliminating the weak points over time. We meet with you on a monthly basis, to give you knowledge needed, derived from your financial reports, to gain wisdom to make better business decisions. This process is referred to as 100% accounting and not 50% accounting, in which you are just handed the financial reports, which you then put in your file drawer, because you do not know what the information means or how to utilize the information to improve your business. . We are able to meet in person with business owners on the island of Oahu and take care of clients anywhere with "In the Cloud" accounting using QuickBooks. So, do yourself a favor. Call for your free benchmark report. Let us help you shape your business, so that you may reach the goals and profit level you have always dreamed about. This is the type of bookkeeping/accounting service you have always wished you could have, one that truly cares about you, the growth of your business, and not just a bunch of numbers and a paycheck. The rates are customized to each business, depending on your needs.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What is an accountant?

Accountants are financial professionals who have received an accounting degree from a four-year university or college. By trade, accountants prepare, maintain and examine the financial statements of an individual, business or institution. An accountant prepares reports for tax purposes and can also perform audits of public companies. Common tasks include creating budgets, analyzing profits and losses of a company, processing payroll, preparing financial statements for company leadership, and creating and maintaining financial database systems for a company.

Accountants do not automatically have a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation unless they have passed the Uniform CPA Examination and received the proper license. Regardless of whether they are CPA certified or not, accountants can assist businesses and individuals with bookkeeping and financial reporting, while CPAs are more knowledgeable in tax codes as a result of the CPA licensing examination and continuing education requirements. CPAs are also eligible to represent clients before the IRS if audit support is required, while a non-CPA accountant is not. Academic background, years in the field and professional reputation all can affect an accountant’s rates.

How much does it cost to hire an accountant?

Accountants’ rates vary based on their education, licenses, experience, and the work for which they are being hired. An accountant may charge an hourly rate when a company or individual needs their services on a short-term basis, such as when performing an audit or requesting assistance setting up a financial database or process. Hourly rates can range as widely as $40 per hour to $300 or more per hour, depending on your geographic location and the accountant. Check out the average hourly rate for accounting services in your region.

Accountants may offer a package rate for weekly, monthly or annual services to reward ongoing customers. Many accountants offer online services where small businesses can access online accounting software and payroll assistance, and the accountant — for a monthly or other recurring fee — provides financial analysis and reporting of their numbers. For basic monthly accounting services, an accountant might charge anywhere from $75 to $500 or more, depending on what was included in a given package, the size of the client’s business, and the complexity of work requested. Nationally, full-time staff accountants earn between $40,000 and $80,000, depending on experience and other factors.
