Hector helped me with new wiring for ceiling fan and light fixtures; changing locks and door knobs; replacing pole in closets; bathroom rods; curtain rods; installing vanity/cabinet. Hector is professional and very knowledgeable in what he does. He is excellent on timeline and I couldn't have asked for more. His rate is very reasonable and he goes beyond what I had asked for him to do without any complaints or asked to be paid more. I would highly recommend his service and would definitely rehire him for any future projects.

We had Bryan and his crew guide us through our first major home remodel. 1200 sq ft town home. demo throughout, install tile floors, bathroom remodel, paint, and a few other things like adding doors, some electical, etc. Bryan was the first to respond, his crew was always on time or early, very professional and courteous. Never once did we feel worried about leaving his team unattended in our home. We were really impressed with the end result and we are really happy we went with him instead of someone else. Bryan is a super busy guy, so if he doesnt answer your call, he gets back to you ASAP. We were really nervous to take on such a large project, but they were able to keep us in budged and on our very strict timeline. I was also impressed with Bryans dedication to satisfy us, as with any large project on a 20-30 yr old home, there are unanticipated setbacks, again Bryan worked with us to meet our goals in time and under budget. We tried to save some money and paint the ceilings ouselves, but we wound up having one of his painters come in at the last minute and it looks top notch. Highly recommended! Skilled and professional workmanship. I think his workers are more like family rather than employees so it was good to have the local ohana touch as well. When we decide to install our windows we will get in touch with them again.

Over the past year Walter worked with me on a total kitchen and bathroom renovation in an older apartment in Makiki. Kitchen: Installed appliances, moved electrical outlets and plumbing connections (stacked washer dryer, wall mounted microwave, stove, sink, faucet, garbage disposal, dishwasher & refrigerator). Tiled kitchen floor (slate tile with a curve design on floor from entry to living room). Bathroom: Installed vanity & faucet, shower head & faucet, removed and installed new tub and wall outlet toilet, leveled and tiled floor. Tiled shower wall with lava rock (created and tiled mold for placement and installation of ceiling fan). He also replaced two ceiling lights and repaired a leak in connection to water heater. Walter was upfront in price charging an hourly fee. If a situation needed to be addressed by an electrician or plumber he has the contacts to advise or do the needed work. His experience in working on older places was invaluable. He was a great educator for me about the options to consider when picking a product and has an artistic eye.

David was very professional, and easy to work with. It was a difficult job, moving our hot tub down a hill and onto the deck. Along with cutting down part of a tree and removing some bamboo. He didn’t quit and kept at it until the job was done. I will be calling again if we need something to be done.

This husband and wife duo is the truth!!! Between the both of them, I haven't found anything they can't get done!! From vehicles, to interior paint jobs, landscaping, carpeting, laying tile, roofing, you name it!!!! The best part is, it's all authentic unlike many companies you run acrosss that break this to fix that (y'all know what I mean)..Justin and Cortney are amazing at everything they put their hands to!

Andrew has many year's experience as a professional painter and also has excellent skills in home repair and remodeling. He is just finishing up a remodel for us which combined a lanai and bedroom to create a large office space and added a storage shed and a large closet with shelving in the garage. The job included carpentry, drywalling, installation of windows and doors, leveling the floor of the lanai with the bedroom floor, tiling, texturing and painting. We are delighted with the results! His price is very reasonable and he is thoroughly professional --a meticulous and well-equipped workman who is always punctual and cleans the work area completely at the end of each day.

Bernard and his team were incredibly professional, considerate, and completed the job within budget based on his initial estimate. He renovated my kitchen and office space; taking out walls, installing cabinets and counters and wiring for new electricity. I wanted to take care of the flooring and finishing of paint and light fixtures to keep costs down (as we were having a lot of work done) which he understood and was fine with. His time frame for the job was on time and he kept me posted along the way as to progress and when we were reaching our budget. I changed design elements along the way and he was happy to accommodate my needs. Above all, Bernard made sure the job was done right and safely. We have an older home where the previous owners did a lot of work on their own and not to code. He made changes to these mistakes of which I was very grateful. We are hoping to have him back to do more work on our home in the future.

Steve was a great and easy guy to work with, he did the take offs and sent me a list of materials that I needed, I ordered the materials and he picked it up for the job. Steve installed granite tiles on kitchen and bathroom floors, shower surround and kitchen counter/wall. He showed up for the job on time and was very dependable and reliable. His workmanship was of superior quality and if he had any questions he ran them by me and made sure that it was exactly what I wanted. He finished the job on the specific date that I needed it done by. I was very satisfied with his quote for work it was well worth it. You will not find another more harder working and honest person then Steve. I highly recommend him for your job and I was completely satisfied with all that he did.

As two busy professionals who have recently moved to Hawaii, we rarely find time to keep our house tidy. Lilli has been such an invaluable resource during our move. She always goes the extra mile in her services. Our house had finally started to feel like a home. Her rates are reasonable too.

Even though I didn't hire Christian for this job, I will keep him in mind for future jobs and recommend him to anyone needing work done. His work ethic is amazing and he is very personable, understanding and reasonable. Christian is very concerned with complete customer satisfaction and is excellent with communicating with his customers about their needs and circumstances. When he says he going to call you back, he calls you back! He is a true professional and provides invoices with a complete breakdown of work and associated cost. You can't go wrong with hiring him!

        About

We provide our clients with complete renovation, offering quality workmanship and materials at a competitive price. "Can't say enough about the quality of the work HCI did when we had them remodel our kitchen and install new hardwood flooring. Kevin and Michelle were very easy to work with. When they started the demolition of our kitchen and tile floor we encountered some unexpected additional work. No problem, Kevin adjusted his team of craftsman and was able to complete the work on time. I'm spending more and more time cooking in our modern kitchen. My wife is very pleased with the work HCI did. We have more room for storage and eliminated all our clutter. If you want a first class renovation at a great cost, give HCI a call. Mahalo, Steve V."

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How many types of welding are there?

Welding is a method of fusing together two or more pieces of metal using electricity or flame. Welding is used to construct buildings, make metal sculptures, build and repair cars, make gates and furniture, and for many other practical and aesthetic uses. There are multiple types of welding. Here is an overview of the most popular methods:

        • Stick welding: Formally known as shielded metal arc welding, stick welding uses extreme heat applied at the seam of two separate metals to melt them together. A third (intermediary) metal may also be incorporated for added strength. As the metals cool, they are bonded together.
        • Metal inert gas (MIG) welding: Formally known as gas metal arc welding, MIG welding uses a tool to feed metal wire into the weld puddle while an electrical arc melts the wire, which will fuse to the base metal upon cooling.
        • Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding: Formally referred to gas tungsten arc welding, TIG welding is a similar process MIG welding, but instead of using a tool that continuously feeds metal wire into the weld puddle, the welder must hold and manually feed the stick.
        • Gas welding: A mix of flammable gas and oxygen is used to heat metal to the melting point.
        • Forge welding: Forging metal is an ancient art that involves heating two pieces of metal until they are molten, then hammering them together.

        How long is welding training?

Because there are different paths to learning to weld, there’s no single timeline for welding training. Some people attend school part-time while working their current job, while others can focus full-time on their welding training courses. People interested in learning how to weld as a hobby can also take classes from professional welders, such as at KCMA & Services in Waterloo, Indiana.

Expect to take at least two years to go from welding newbie to American Welding Society Certified Welder. A junior college Certificate of Completion welding course is two semesters full-time, or 10 units of coursework. With this certificate, students are qualified for an apprenticeship or internship, rather than a full-time entry-level job. Welding apprenticeships range from 6,000 to 8,000 hours long, equalling three to four years at 2,000 hours per year. Some junior colleges, such as Cerritos College in the Los Angeles area, offer more in-depth welding programs that lead to different welding certifications, such as arc welding and tungsten gas arc welding. These take three to four semesters to complete, so you could be qualified for an entry-level job in about two years of full-time study. Alternatively, you can prepare for employment more quickly through an intensive vocational program at a trade school. For instance, Ohio’s Lincoln Electric Company offers a comprehensive program that prepares people for a welding career in just 20 weeks and 600 hours of hands-on instruction.

Where can I take welding classes?

Your options for welding classes depend on where you live and whether you’re willing to travel. Many skilled professionals offer private or group welding classes across the U.S. Some high schools offer classes for teens, but many people learn from a private trainer or in a junior college or vocational school. Students learn basic welding, machining and fabrication processes, including using gas and arc welding equipment, and qualify for an apprenticeship or internship. Other colleges as well as vocational schools have two-year associate’s degree programs that prepare you to take the welding certification exam and seek full-time employment.

        How much is welding training?

The cost of welding training depends on where you take your classes and how quickly you want to complete the program. In general, junior college welding classes are the least expensive, but may take longer; trade schools offer intensive classes that lead to certification more quickly, but are more expensive. For example, Cerritos College, a junior college in Los Angeles that offers a welding training course, charges an average of $46 per unit; most of their welding certificate programs require 19 units of coursework, so cost about $875 each to complete. Pro-Weld, an on-site welding school in Idaho, offers three different welding courses. The 36-week welder fabrication and the 24-week gas tungsten arc welding courses each cost an average of $3,300, while pipe welding costs an average of $2,500 for a 24-week session or an average of $4,500 for a 52-week session. The 20-week comprehensive program at the Lincoln Electric Company in Ohio costs an average of $9,500. Many programs require students to purchase approximately $120-$200 worth of personal welding equipment in addition to textbooks or other class material fees.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
