Midwest Staining did a fabulous job with our deck, start to finish. Steven is very well versed on woods and stains and provided exactly what our deck’s do-over needed. He stripped the water based stain I had previously applied last year (which peeled horribly), sanded, used brightener, then stained. It looks wonderful. He was reasonably priced, always there when he said he would be (even though he had two other deck jobs going at the same time, working around the weather), worked diligently, and checked in with us frequently. We were more than satisfied. A great company run by a very good person. I highly recommend.

Working with Steven was fantastic!  This is how every job should go.  

He was quickly responsive to questions, punctual - if anything changed (like the weather was too cold to start staining at 9:00am) he would let us know before his start time that there would be a delay and why, and honest with his work.  He explained what needed to be done, what prep work was required, and followed through with everything.  He provided great choices of stain for us to pick out and even allowed us to try different stains on the deck before deciding.

He was not the least expensive quote we received but he provided a very fair quote. As they say, if you go cheap you get cheap work.  Steven was meticulous with his work and we could not be happier.  Our newly replaced decking boards are too green to take stain well, so he's coming back in the spring to stain them once they'll take the stain.  Most people would have slapped a coat of stain on and never cared that it wouldn't hold. We truly feel like we got a great deal, especially with the quality of work and wonderful customer service.

To give you an idea of how amazing his work is we had multiple neighbors contact us (or him) for bids while he was still working on our decks! We can't wait to host friends and family on our freshly revitalized decks! If you hire Steven you will not be disappointed!

Steven was very professional. Came promptly on thd days he planned. Kept me posted on the progress of the job.
He worked diligently without cutting corners to ensure perfection.
For some reason the plug point at my home was not working properly frequently tripping his high wattage sanding machine. He then patiently did it with a small machine.
He has upfront pricing for the whole job and no last min surprises.
Overall very impressed and will hire him again moving forward for my deck maintenance.

    I’ve been staining and restoring decks for 3 years now. I have around 200 decks under my belt ranging from water based film forming stains, solid stains to semi transparent oil based penetrating stains and sealers.
