FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
All projects are billed an hourly rate. A full accounting of time and materials are presented weekly for payment.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ALWAYS meet with new customers several times before any work can commence. The first meeting is a lot like a first date. Do we like each other? Do we have similar goals, budgets, and time line for this project? Do we want to work together? I have a list of talking points to discuss with each potential client to help ensure we will be a good match. Each project will have a design and budgeting phase, often at no charge (depends on scope), prior to any work being started. Only when we are in complete agreement on the scope, budget, and schedule will work begin and the client begin to incur charges.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a: Christian by Faith, husband and father by choice, machine design engineer by education, skilled craftsman by training, and tool-a-holic by habit I have been working on old houses since I purchased my first home, an 1890 Victorian in Galesburg IL, in 1992.
