Even though I am new to thumbtack, I have 22 years of Residential and Commercial Electrical experience. I started my electrical career in 1997 working on new construction homes. In 2010, I took the leap and opened my own company specializing in residential homes. We do anything from commercial work to residential custom homes, remodels, or work on projects for people who are updating their electrical. Even though most of our business is generated from referrals and word of mouth, I decided to branch out by joining thumbtack to expand our business and offer our services to help new clientele. Our expertise is in a broad range of electrical projects, both big and small. We pride ourself on quality work done throughout the inside and outside of our client’s homes. Being new to thumbtack, I do not have a bunch of reviews showing . However, we have worked with numerous builders, remodelers, and individual home owners to build a business based on integrity and honesty. Gerdes Electric is committed to excellence and customer satisfaction and safety is our greatest priority. We also take precautions to help protect our customers. We believe in keeping everyone safe during this unprecedented time. Dan is a very professional electrician and skilled worker. He was very clear about his vision and plan in performing the work (installation of recessed lights) and made some great recommendations. He was very punctual and completed the job in a timely manner. Very highly recommended!

New 100amp panel and 60amp sub-panel installed and labeled. Six smoke and carbon monoxide wireless interconnected units installed throughout the house. Polite, courteous, efficient and explained everything as he went. Great job! Would definitely hire again and refer.

We highly recommend Dan and his team! He came out to our house to install a ceiling fan and a few can lights in our family room and kitchen. He is very personable, professional, and reasonable. We are so happy with our new fan and beautiful lights! We will be using them for future projects. Hands down one of the best!

Had heard about him through my cousin. I needed my basement finished. Dan, came out and took the time to go over things with me. He even offered suggestions that ended up being better then what we were thinking and answered any questions we had that we had later. Owner very hands on and does a majority of the work which is what was nice to see. I am writing this review because we had to pull a permit and he was the only trade that didn’t have to come back after inspection. They are really professional and know what they are doing.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We may not be the lowest price. Be wary of someone who throws out a quick price because they might not end up giving you what you want or may “run into problems.” Electrical work shouldn’t be based on bargain pricing. This is because you want to make sure you are getting a reputable company where you won’t have issues in the future. No one should sacrifice the safety of themselves or their loved ones based on saving a few bucks upfront.
Our pricing is competitive and typically in the ballpark. If it is close, we would be more then happy to try to match or beat a quote from another contractor. If it is not close to all the others, then we need to revisit your needs because we must not be quoting apples to apples. Gerdes Electric is not in the business to just to get every job - we are in the business to make you, the homeowner, happy. Therefore, we don’t try to be the lowest - just to get the work. Please just be careful if you decide to use someone who is dramatically lower, because some companies that low ball may not do things to code or may not be be as qualified. Gerdes Electric makes sure to do it right the first time and provides quotes jobs based on industry standards and off the description the client has given.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to look at the job if possible and carefully review the scope of work with the home owner. I listen to their needs and offer suggestions and advice if needed. We work together to come to the best solution for their project(s). When I am there I inspect and make sure that the client is aware of all the details required to get them to their solution. I present them with the costs so they know upfront what they are looking at. With any job there is a chance of unforseen issues, but we try to avoid as much as we can on the initial inspection. However, you never know what you may run into behind the walls so if we run into a unexpected surprise we will work with you to find the most effective solution. We will advise you on any costs for the additional job extras at this point. For example I went to a job to replace a light that “burnt out.” It appeared like it was going to be a standard job, unfortunately behind the wall a rat had eaten the wires and we had to rewire the job.
