About
I’ve been teaching cello professionally for 12 years, both remotely and in person. I’ve helped young and adult students reach a wide range of goals—from beginning their musical journey to winning auditions for competitive college programs and youth orchestras. Since 2014, my students have toured the U.S. and Canada as performers and have earned awards for their playing.
My own career has been an adventure: I’ve performed under Maestro Leonard Slatkin, appeared on America’s Got Talent, and have been featured on Classic FM, The Violin Channel, Classical Music Indy, and New York’s WQXR. But my favorite work is helping students grow their skills and confidence on the cello.
My lessons are centered around your goals—whether you’re playing for fun, preparing for auditions, or developing strong technique. I take a supportive, patient approach, and I believe cello should feel rewarding even on the challenging days. Music offers so many opportunities for personal growth, and I love helping students discover that for themselves.
My mission is simple: help you succeed, enjoy the process, and feel proud of your playing. That’s why I teach. 🙂

Mr. Warren is a treasure trove of knowledge and wisdom. His calm, laid-back style makes every lesson feel relaxed, but don’t let that fool you. Beneath that quiet demeanor is a teacher with remarkable depth, patience, and insight—very much like Mr. Miyagi.
He has an exceptional ability to connect with our child on the spectrum. Mr. Warren prioritizes our child’s confidence while nurturing both musical skill and a genuine love for the cello. Mr. Warren has the confidence and experience to use books as tools rather than scripts. He thoughtfully shapes each lesson around our child’s specific needs, interests, and pace of learning.
We feel incredibly fortunate to have found such a thoughtful and gifted teacher.

I had my first lesson with Warren, and it was worth every dime! He was super knowledgeable, gracious to be flexible with my schedule, and passionate about the cello. I’ve played the cello for a while, but was hoping to have a lesson to set up a plan for getting back into playing… meeting with Warren was perfect for it!

Warren is a fantastic cello teacher. As a returning (very long-lapsed!) cellist, I’ve made more progress than I expected thanks to his clear instruction and encouraging style. He explains fingerings, bowing, and posture in a way that immediately improves my playing. His practice tips are practical and effective, and he truly cares about his students’ goals. Lessons with Warren are focused, motivating, and fun, and he plays beautifully, which is incredibly inspiring. He is also reliable, professional, and easy to schedule with. I highly recommend Warren to anyone looking for a skilled, supportive, and engaging cello instructor.

Very experienced teacher, my kid had a better understanding of his instrument within 2 weeks of starting. I always worry about virtual lessons with cello but he broke all those barriers. Very professional and responsive. Would definitely recommend

FAQs
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I set up a free 10 minute call with prospective students to discuss what their musical background is and to discuss possible goals. This is also an opportunity for the student to ask questions and get a feel for my personality to see if I am a good fit for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
-Bachelor's in Music Performance at Western Michigan University
-Course study in Music Education at University of Knoxville Tennessee
-Received private cello lessons for over 15 years.
-Over ten years of experience teaching remote and in person lessons.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started music lessons at the age of eight. The encouragement I received from my private teachers inspired me to work hard and I developed a passion for music. I want to carry on the legacy of my music teachers and create my own. Helping students realize their potential and making them feel proud of their progress is very satisfying to me. It is an honor to play an important role in the personal and musical development of my students.
