We hired Angels With An Edge to be the DJs and MCs for our wedding reception. We did not have a large crowd (40 people) and were a little worried about if people would be dancing and what music would be best, but the DJs handled everything well. They got people dancing and played background music when we needed it. We don't listen to too much music so it was difficult for us to come up with a playlist, so the DJs did that for us and they did a great job. They were able to adapt to how our crowd was reacting. This was important to us and we do not think things could have gone any smoother. We would recommend them.

I would highly recommend Angels With An Edge Entertainment to anyone who is looking for responsive, professional, and affordable DJ services. I was nervous hiring Cyndi having never met her, nor knowing anyone who has used her, since I think music can really make or break a wedding reception. From the get go Cyndi was really responsive - constantly checking in with me in the months leading up to the wedding. I had a call with her a week before to review timelines and wants, and she had clearly read all my documents, and was really on top of the event already. The online tool is perhaps not the most technical/up to date, but it works and is a great way to organize the music you want to hear. I was very specific in my music selections for dinner, cocktails, and dancing, and as far as I could tell it was all played at the appropriate times. I really wanted a low key DJ, and Cyndi took this into account. All announcements I asked for were properly full of pep and excitement, but were not cheesy. And, as the night went on I asked for a couple of things to happen, and they all were taken care of promptly (certain songs to be played, etc). Highly recommend!

Cyndi is the great mixture of professional and easy to work with. She really knows music, can read a crowd, has the most up to date DJ equipment and when she says she will do something, it's done and done right. I truly enjoyed working with her.

We hired Angels With An Edge to DJ at our wedding reception, and Cyndi was very responsive and accommodating during the planning process. However, on the day of the reception, a different DJ showed up at our event, and it quickly became evident that he did not actually have the playlist we had put together using their online system--he actually started specifically playing multiple songs we had listed on our "do not play" list! My husband ended up having to pull up the playlist for him on his phone, and as a result, things got played in an awkward order (e.g. it started out right off the bat with raunchier hip-hop songs that should've been played later on in the night and he didn't even get around to playing a bunch of the Top 40 music that would've been more of a crowd-pleaser), so as a result, I felt like our dance floor didn't get as much action as we would have liked. That said, the price they charged is an absolute steal for the Chicago area, so I would just advise anybody who books them to double check at the beginning of the event to make sure that they have the correct playlist.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Each event is different, so each quote is custom tailored for that event. Services START at $400.00 for up to 4 hours. Extra time is $50 per half hour. Every quote includes dj/mc, professional sound equipment & wireless microphone. Additional charge for carrying equipment up more than 5 stairs - $100 Additional charge for downtown Chicago venues - $100 Distances over 45 miles - $50
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Ideally, I would like to personally meet with each client to learn about their event & how I can assist with making it fun & stress free. If that is not possible, I am always happy to talk on the phone, text, use Skype or email. Whatever is most convienient for the client.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a radio dj at my college radio station. In addition, I have worked with 3 other dj services before starting my own service.
