Although I am not a student of Ted Sirota, I am a fellow teacher who shared a private teaching studio with him for several years. Ted is a consumate professional and expert in the field of drumset/percussion education. What sets Ted apart from others is the fact he is not only a highly skilled teacher, but he is also a world class drummer in his own right. Several nights a week Ted takes the stage, and each time that he does, he takes away with him even more "real world" experience to pass along to his students. As a fellow teacher, I can think of no one whom I would rather substitute my lessons when I am out, then Ted Sirota. Ted Sirota turned me on to a new set of skills. I've always been a rock player, a veteran of many years. But since studying a little jazz with Ted, my playing has become more interesting. Ted's instruction opened me up to fresh ideas, especially when applied to rock standards. From timekeeping to feel and groove, technical applications and soloing Ted has an answer for all of it. My favorite part of the lessons was his ability to speak directly and respectfully in terms of the lesson. It never seemed like criticism from Ted, it was always more like sage advice. His standards are challenging yet attainable. And though I no longer take lessons with Ted, I still study his notes and review the lessons. The reason stopped sessions with Ted was that my schedule picked up. Maybe it's a coincidence, but probably not. When I get the chance, I'll go back.

Ted Sirota offered to play drums on my forthcoming E.P "Dred Reggae" ... he transformed my track into a masterpiece with his amazing drumming skillz and arrangement , I highly recommend Ted for drum lessons and drum arrangement ... 10 out of 10 in my books !

Ted's style is exactly what I was looking for. A great combination of learning the rudiments of drumming, and also learning to play the type of songs that appealed to me. Plus he's a great guy, an excellent teacher, and an incredible drummer.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are $30/30 min, $45/45min and $60/hour. After the introductory lesson the student will have the option to sign up for a weekly lesson. At that point the lessons will be charged on a monthly basis. Lessons cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time are charged at full price.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get to know the student's musical history, if any, and also an understanding of what makes him/her "tick". The student is able to get a sense of whether they feel comfortable with the studio and my teaching approach. There is no pressure and no strings attached. Come in for an initial lesson and decide from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing the drums since 1980 and have been teaching since 1992. I am a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston (Magna Cum Laude) and have been playing the drums professionally for over 30 years. I am a father of two adult children and my experience in raising kids greatly enhanced my teaching ability.
