They worked for hours making sure work was good put up a section of wall and a ceiling and hung two ceiling fans will hire again excellent job

Gustavo was pleasant to work with and knew how to do the job right. I learned some new things just observing his approach to resolving my issue. He was professional and thorough. The pocket door now works properly and looks better than it did before. Gustavo cleaned everything up when he was finished and left the room looking great. I would definitely recommend G & D Design Construction. I will be happy to hire them again for future projects.

My experience with G&D Design Construction was somewhat disappointing. I needed to have an attic gable vent replaced- the original owners had put a plexiglass window covering the opening, but this blew off in a windstorm.
After arranging with G&D Design on Thumbtack for an estimate and proposal, a person arrived promptly at the stated time. This person was nice and professional, but did not speak English. In order to communicate what was needed, we had to converse with a third person on the phone. I thought that I adequately conveyed what needed to be done on the project- that either a vent would need to be built or one would need to be ordered and installed. I also thought that it wouldn't be unreasonable for another person to do the installation. No written estimate or contract.
He quoted us a reasonable amount and we made an appointment for him to come back later in the week for materials. When he did arrive (with a partner), he didn't have a ladder. To me, this was concerning- but he seemed to be under the impression that this job could be done by accessing indoor stairs. I think he didn't understand that this was not a window to a second floor room- but rather an attic. So he and his partner go off to find a ladder and they come back 1.5 hours later with a ladder and get started.
Rather than building an attic/louver/gable vent that would cover the opening in the side of the house, they installed a window. To me, this explains why they didn't have a ladder- they must have thought that they could install the window and exit the room by going downstairs. But, I would have thought being on the roof and able to see into the attic that would have suggested it was not a window that needed to be replaced.
On one hand- it is a solution- there is no longer a gaping hole in exterior of the house. But on the other, the installation seems poorly done. From the ground, the sealant they installed has squeezed out from between the window and the wall. They also did a bad job removing the sticker from inside the window- it was carelessly torn away, leaving behind much of the sticker, on what looks like the inside of the window. They ended up enlarging the opening and changing the shape- it had been an octagonal shape and is now rectangular. It also doesn't look square or centered.
I am annoyed with this project. I paid someone else to do this project that I could easily have done myself- poorly glue a window into this opening. The worst part is that this doesn't vent now- so now my energy bills are going to be higher. And its a window, so it can't even be opened.
