Introduction: Hello, I'm Athina. I've been practicing yoga for over a decade and received my 200HR YTT in Cyprus from Ravvi's School of Yoga, India in April 2018. My guru's first guru was B.K.S. Iyengar - which, if you're into yoga, is humbling. It set the foundation for my teaching style, focusing on correct posture and form. That being said, I think yoga is for everyone and the best yogi is one who's never done it before. So if that's stopping you, don't let it. Yoga isn't about putting your foot behind your head. It's about connecting your mind and your body though your breath, strengthening yourself physically and mentally, and finding balance in all that you do... and to keep trying. I promote a holistic approach to yoga, focusing on mind, body and soul. Yoga is more than just stretching and exercise, although a client lost one belt notch in only one week and 3 sessions with me.
Yoga found me and stuck after a bad car accident left me shell shocked. It also helped me work through trauma. Life has afforded me first and second hand experience in coping with generational trauma, death, grief, addiction, eating disorders, anxiousness, and family crisis management....If that's too far down the rabbit hole, I worked for nearly a decade as a top producer in banking and on one of the top investment teams at a globally recognized institution in Chicago in another life and can help you cope with prolonged sitting, a challenging work environment, and work/life balance.
I am a certified Tibetan Reiki Master and we end each session in Savasana with meditation and reiki. I have a passion for dance, so if your goal is to reconnect with your body - we can incorporate that, too. Our yoga sessions are specifically tailored towards you and your goals.
My clients are kids, moms, dads, grandparents, nurses, doctors, engineers, teachers, real estate agents, accountants, personal trainers, travel agents, former and current collegiate and professional athletes, sheet metal workers, laborers, attorneys, students, CEOs, small business owners, addicts, and ex-convicts...human beings. Everyone could use some yoga.
I host in-person and virtual sessions for individuals, groups, and corporations for all types of reasons and occasions, including: personal wellness, conferences, birthdays, bachelorette parties, anniversaries, family zoom meetings, wine and yoga night with friends, or anything else you could possibly imagine.
