About
My name is Alyssa Ray and I'm an interior designer based out of Wicker Park/Ukranian Village. I received my training from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
This is what to expect when working with me:
1. Free phone consultation
This will be a time for us to talk on the phone and chat about your project. I always make sure that you've seen my portfolio at this point because it's really important that our taste is aligned. If you feel like this might be a good partnership, we can either schedule an on-site consultation or we can jump right in and move forward with the contract.
2. On-site consultation ($200-250)
This is a time for us to get to know each other and discuss your project at length. We will discuss your design goals and the possible changes we will make to your space. I will give you some ideas as we tour the space and we will dive into your design style so that I can understand your taste better.
3. Payment
I charge a 50% retainer up front based on the estimated number of hours needed for your project. If we do end up going over the estimated time needed, I will bill you in blocks of ten to twenty hours at a time until completion.
Tasks performed for your project will include: creating a 3D model/design concept/moodboards for your space, sourcing furnishings, sourcing inspirational images, all project related management, correspondance and meetings with you the client, contractors and any individual involved in the project, shopping and the like. Travel time is billed at half the hourly rate. I accept Venmo, Cash App, Zelle & Stripe (if you want to use your credit card).
Also, I will keep a detailed log of time spent on your project and will share those details with you as the project progresses.
4. Moving forward
Should you choose to move forward, I will send you a contract and the invoice for the retainer. Once those are signed and paid we are all set to move forward! For most projects, I will begin by recreating your space using 3D modeling/rendering and will convey my plans and ideas using that format. We will work together on Pinterest (for imagery).

We’ve lived in our home for a while and decided it was finally time for a new look. Alyssa was incredibly helpful. When we moved back to the city, we quickly realized our old furniture wouldn't fit the new space. We found Alyssa through Thumbtack and her portfolio matched our taste perfectly. Because this was our first time working with an interior designer, Alyssa walked us through all the steps, the timeline and the costs. She began by creating a brilliant 3D layout, made adjustments as needed, and helped us source all the furniture. She has a great eye for style and proportion. Alyssa even painted a giant custom abstract artwork for our living room (actually, she painted it in our living room because of the size). We are very happy we worked with Alyssa and plan to do so again for our next big project.

I've had a great experience working with Alyssa on the interior design of my husband and I's new apartment. We just moved from abroad, and needed to tie in both our old furniture & decor with some key new pieces as well as match our eclectic/bohemian style with a modern apartment.
