I had the pleasure to work with Kat on one of the most stressful events in Detroit. She was on point and extremely professional. I am the head of makeup for a company wHo needs makeup artist all the time. I was very surprised about how she rocked the day. I will definitely hire Kat again . And you should too.

For anyone looking for an incredible makeup artist in the Metro-Detroit area, I highly recommend Katt Baast. I recently booked her Aug. 2015 through Thumbtack to do my wedding makeup for an intimate ceremony/reception at the Indian Village Centennial Garden/Roostertail Detroit. I am a native Detroiter but currently reside in Phoenix, AZ … I was very nervous about booking/consulting with someone sight unseen from 2,000 miles away but from the moment I received a quote from Katt I felt at ease. The quoting process was simple and her price to come onsite was very reasonable. Katt called a week or two prior to the ceremony to discuss the look I wanted to achieve. I do not typically wear makeup and told Katt that I was open to her doing her thing but stressed how I still wanted to look like me. She nailed it! Katt was professional, time conscious and very sweet. She also recommended my new favorite product – Volcanic Ash Exfoliator from MAC. I loved the final result, feeling confident and beautiful. Friends and family raved about my face and whenever anyone sees pictures of the wedding, the first remark is how my makeup was on point!

Katt is incredibly talented and a rock start at both makeup and videography. She worked really hard and was flexible with my large bridal party. I would recommend her for sure!!! I got lots of complements on my makeup throughout the night even after hours of dancing and sweating. She was outstanding and made my day extra special!

I've had several great experiences with Katt, she is very creative, a great listener and quite knowledgeable. It’s always an enjoyable and informative experience to work with her! My first, and one of the most notable experiences I've had with this artist was when she did my makeup for a black tie event. She executed an elegant look that brought out all of my best features. Prior to the makeup application, we discussed what I wanted my makeup to look like for the evening (sultry eyes and a striking lip color) I also showed her the gown I was going to wear. The look was everything we discussed in the consultation and needless to say I was very pleased. It was a fun evening and I received numerous compliments about how great my makeup, hair and gown looked. They worked perfectly together and the makeup really brought the whole look to completion. From that experience grew a wonderful relationship and I now reach out to Katt whenever I need my makeup to look flawless. I highly recommend this talented artist.

Katt was great! She had everything ready to go on location for the photo shoot and even provided food for everyone. The mood was very light and jolly. Everyone had a lot of fun. The quality of her work was amazing! I will definitely be working with her again!

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    I started doing makeup while I was in college. It was something that I did for fun after studying or on nights where I would stay in. It was an outlet for creative expression because I could change myself into any character I wanted to be or any mood that I was in. Before I knew it, I was doing my friends makeup and then they would refer me to others and I started doing it more regularly on weekends. I eventually came to work for MAC Cosmetics and the rest is still in the making.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

    It varies. I've done makeup for weddings, photoshoots, proms, fitness competitions, birthdays, etc. I work on projects that inspire me so essentially that could be anything, especially since I'm always up for new challenges!
