Cory Poulton Live

I am a musician, educator, and performer with a lifelong foundation in music, beginning at the age of three and shaped by three generations of music teachers and performers. I hold a degree in Music Education from Ohio Wesleyan University. I am a multi-instrumentalist specializing in piano and trumpet, with over 7 years of experience performing in the Chicago music scene and in locations including Arizona, the Florida Keys, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Colorado. I am a member of the Bluewater Kings Band, a highly selective organization of professional musicians who perform at high-profile events and weddings across the country. Membership requires ongoing auditioning, reflecting a continued standard of excellence and professionalism. I have also performed multiple times at the House of Blues Chicago, further reflecting my professional-level experience and stage presence. In addition to performing, I have taught in structured school settings, leading multiple classes daily and working with hundreds of students across weekly instruction in addition to private instruction. I also hold a substitute teaching license, which supports a structured, calm, and professional teaching environment. What sets my teaching apart is my ability to balance strong technical instruction with intuitive, personalized learning. I aim to help students not just play music, but truly understand and feel it. I also specialize in adaptive, vestibular-aware music instruction, supporting students who may struggle with traditional learning methods due to balance, sensory, or neurological challenges. I work especially well with students who feel traditional teaching methods haven’t worked for them.
