FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Editing and other services vary, but as far as resume writing: I charge $45 for either a resume makeover or a cover letter, with two edits for both. It is a $60 package for both a resume makeover and a cover letter. If you are just entering the working world as a student, I have a discounted fee for students of $35 for either service, or $50 for both a resume and cover letter. Additional cover letters for specific jobs you are applying for are an additional $20.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We'll have a phone call or a Skype/Facetime meeting about what you're looking for. Send me any old resumes or documentation you deem necessary and I'll ask you a series of questions. This meeting usually takes anywhere 30 minutes to an hour. Then, give you your results via email in as little as six-hour turnaround time (longer if I need more information from you that you have to provide later). If additional edits are needed, for example, for resume writing, you and I will text, email or call and make those changes.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked in newspapers as a page designer, reporter and copy editor for 12 years, and am a current designer and copy editor for Tribune Publishing, which includes products from the Chicago Tribune, the Hartford Courant, the Orlando Sentinel, the New York Daily News, among other newspapers. I have a trained eye when it comes to processing copy and designing simple yet eye-catching resume layouts, and my friends usually come to me for touching up their resumes with great results. I've been published in Paste Magazine and The Lily, a women's magazine from the Washington Post, as well as several poetry journals, like the East Jasmine Review and abjective (now defunct). I've worked as a teacher, advisor and mentor for students at El Camino College's (Torrance, CA) journalism program, which is where I honed my teaching chops. I earned my bachelor's degree in Communications with an emphasis in Print Journalism from California State University, Fullerton.
