Are you looking for some help navigating the wonderful world of wine? Do you know what you like but need help finding it? Are you looking for someone knowledgeable and approachable? I am a WSET certified wine specialist and I would love to assist you.
My goal and my passion is to make good wine accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Designing menus and pairings to create the perfect atmosphere is a true joy for me. Whether you are looking for someone to run a wine tasting, assist with event planning, provide server training, or learn about dinner party pairings, I have the experience and knowledge necessary to provide great service and a great experience.
I previously ran a private chef/event catering business on Thumbtack and have since switched my focus to sommelier and wine consulting. I have professional experience as a chef, wine retailer, server, winery cellar hand, wine teacher, and I currently work for the French Trade Commission on the Wine and Spirits team. Additionally, I hold a level 4 WSET Diploma

Cedar came to my home for a wine tasting for a bachelorette party-she was very professional, super knowledgeable about wine and answered a variety of questions my guests had. We loved the wines she chose and it was an excellent experience. We would definitely book her for a future event!

Cedar was amazing to work with! She was great at communication and she showed up on time. She talked about 5 wines for a party of about 40 people! Everyone liked how she explained them and took sometime to go to each table to answer any questions. I would definitely recommend her - it was quite the experience!

In planning a surprise birthday breakfast for my girlfriend, Cedar came through big time! She helped me work out a menu by providing several options and what she made was superb. She was flexible, friendly, on time and totally professional. She also fulfilled a last-minute request to make a gluten-free birthday cake, when my original baker didn't come through. Everyone who ate the cake at my girlfriend's birthday dinner RAVED about it. Evidently finding a delicious, gluten-free cake is difficult. But Cedar whipped up some serious magic and everyone at the birthday dinner could not have been more impressed. I definitely plan on going back to Cedar in the future!

FAQs
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to do a brief interview with a customer to get an overview of what they are looking for, price range, type of event, their idea for the overall ambiance or target group, and then provide a detailed proposal for the service I can offer, pricing, staffing, items which need to be procured, etc.
Once we have agreed on the proposal terms I start working.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a level 4 certification in Wines from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET Diploma), one of the most internationally recognizable sommelier/wine certificates.
I also have experience working as a server, bartender, chef, cellar hand, and in wine sales/marketing.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
In 2017 I realized that I hated working in an office so I quite my corporate job in security and risk management and returned to wine and travel - my true loves. I had previously run a private chef business on Thumbtack as a side project, but now my focus is mainly on wine.
