FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It is a rather complicated pricing system. Gigs vary- because you never know how far away something is, what the set up will require. I would say- a typical wedding ceremony usually costs $175 for the singer (me) and $100 for the pianist (for accompanying me, more for the pianist if you need them to play prelude or other parts of a service). In places where I need to bring my own set up/ there may be an additional fee for bringing a keyboard or speakers etc. Usually when singing a ceremony or wedding party I sing 2 or 3 pieces, sometimes only 1. A dinner party that would like entertainment for a half hour, I usually charge $200, and depending on the repertoire, the pianist usually $150, because that requires more time and preparation, but less 'time' at the actual event. The pricing varies in every situation, and I give quotes on a per-case basis, taking many factors into account. I may give discounts for certain situations. One guarantee however, is that you receive a high-quality, unforgettable product that is specialized for your event. It gives that event that special sparkle!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Weddings, private events, often hire me to entertain/ or to have that 'special something' to make the event sparkle. Often I will perform at memorial services, and I find that it is a gift to comfort those who mourn. Sometimes words just can't do enough, and having that special song at that ceremony helps to heal
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Last Christmas season I sang a last minute replacement program for a Church School in Winnetka, who normally had a long standing tradition of having their high school choir perform at their yearly Christmas Dinner event. (Because their director was ill.) I was asked back 7 months in advance of their Christmas party this year, because they enjoyed my program so much; and they wanted a new "Rachel Sparrow" tradition. The evening had been very special- and it took me about an hour to leave, because so many of the people there wanted to speak with me before I left, to let me know how much my performance had meant to them. It really made their Christmas special. They kept saying again and again. "I couldn't believe how QUIET it was. This is the FIRST time this party has EVER been quiet during it's entertainment. We just enjoyed it SO much. Thank you for sharing your gift."
