Quite pleased with the level of cleanliness, professionalism, and attention to detail. Clean Green did a thorough job of cleaning my carpets and providing pet stain services for an additional fee. Since I have three pugs, who hate going out in bad weather, it was a necessity that I added on the pet treatment service. My one hesitation at giving five stars (and really, it would only be a 1/2 star deduction) is the expectation setting for the pet treatment service. Like an idiot, I purchased a black light flashlight to show me where there were pet urine stains I needed to attack with my carpet shampooer (Bissell ProHeat 2X® Lift-Off® Pet Upright Carpet Cleaner) which wasn't doing the job of eliminating odor or stains. My expectation is that the Clean Green Pet Treatment would do both. It didn't. And upon review, it never claimed to provide complete stain removal, only odor removal. By stain removal, I mean I expected that once the carpet had dried, I could get out my black light and check the floor for spots to confirm they were all gone. My carpet still looks like a crime scene under black light. These stains are only visible under black light. Importantly, THE ODOR IS COMPLETELY GONE. Like I said, only a 1/2 star deduction for not meeting my expectation of having the stains completely removed. While not visible to the naked eye, the minerals in pet urine are still visible under black light. Five stars if I had known in advance there would still be remnants of stains under black light conditions.

We had a young lady perform our carpet cleaning and upholstery. She called ahead of time and asked if she could arrive early. She explained what she would be doing and worked non-stop taking time to make sure everything was cleaned properly. I would definitely hire her back again.

Very satisfied with the work Riverbend Cleaning did. I have a large home and was having trouble keeping up with all the cleaning tasks. I decided to try a professional cleaning service that could get the whole place clean top to bottom. I found Riverbend on Thumbtack, read lots of positive reviews, and decided to give them a try. Stacey is the owner. She is very responsive and accommodating. She answered all my questions and described her services in detail. I came home and found everything in pristine order. Hardwood floors, carpets, dusting, kitchens, bath all in good shape. Even cleaned out the inside of the microwave and got the kitchen sink white again! I definitely plan to use Riverbend again. Thanks Stacey!

We highly recommend Steve at Drymaster Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning LLC. Steve was prompt and did a terrific job on our carpet. He first took the time to look at our carpet and treated a few stains before he started cleaning the carpets. Steve was very easy to talk to and we would definitely recommend him to friends and family and already have passed his card along to a few of our neighbors.

Crystal and her business partner, Dominique, did a thorough deep cleaning of my cabinets, oven, refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, bathroom and shower before I moved out of my apartment. It was well-priced and well done. It definitely saved me a lot of money that would otherwise come out of my security deposit.

Randy was a pleasure to work with. His price was competitive and the quality of his work was outstanding. Randy was punctual, thorough and helpful with respect to educating us on the ceramic floor tiling work he performed. We discovered, in talking with Randy, that he is a handyman, and we fully intend to give him a call with any of our future needs. Randy is a very personable, trustworthy contractor, something I often cannot say about others with whom I've interacted. He is a pleasure to talk with throughout the job, and he genuinely is not trying to overcharge you. He offers a reasonable and competitive price, and he follows it up with excellent work. I think anyone would find him to be the type of contractor with whom you'd always want to work.

Earlier this year my house caught on fire. My home needed a full demolishion and overhaul. I hired Ollie (Oliver) McDowell as my contractor. Ollie did the full job from top to bottom including new roof, new walls, new windows, doors, new floors, new walls, fully primed and painted, new cabnets in both kitchen and bathroom. Ollie hand tiled my back splash in both the kitchen and bathroom. New Tub, toilet, and sink. New floors including carpeting, He had my home re-wired, new heating and aircondition.....etc. Ollie stucked within his time frame that was quoted on the bid. Ollie used good quality material in my house and put his personal professional touch in as well. You name it he did it. If there was something he could have done better, I never saw, because everything and ALL my encounters during the reconstruction was perfessional. Ollie is the most perfessional contractor you will ever want to use for your services. I would recommend Ollie on a scale from 1 - 10, with 10 being perfect I would rate him a perfect 10!! He is most definitly a professional contractor!!!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

      • Old standard or electric toothbrush
      • Stiff bristle brush
      • Spray bottle
      • White vinegar
      • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How do you find a good carpet cleaning company?

Regular professional carpet cleaning can both extend the life of your carpet and remove harmful pollutants from your home. Finding a good carpet cleaning company is an important aspect of home maintenance. When choosing a carpet cleaner, consider these top three questions:

      • What method of carpet cleaning do you prefer? Steam cleaning is an increasingly popular method because it’s thorough and safe, and dries quickly enough for you to return to your home the same day the carpets are cleaned.
      • Have you checked the company’s references? Most cities are home to several carpet cleaning companies, so it’s a good idea to check their reviews and references. Look for references from people in your neighborhood with homes similar to yours.
      • What’s included in the base price? What other services does the carpet cleaning company offer? Some companies will move furniture for you, while others charge a fee for it. Some include stairs in the cost of the home’s cleaning, while others charge per step.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
