Introduction
I love to perform music and I experience all the time that my audience enjoys me playing. I try to spread this joy on my students. I'm educated in Poland with strict respect to classical music but I've studied Suzuki Method in US and this changed my perspective on teaching at all. But I don't use strict Suzuki Method because I believe in need of music reading to rise independent musician. I understand the different goals people have with music so I adjust my method to the goals of my students. With youngsters I focus the most on teaching by playing with fun. With adults I incorporate some stretching exercises to improve muscle ability to perform well. I teach partially like a coach with great focus on practical use of the technique. Anyway even my very beginners are actually playing short songs at their first lesson because melody in music is what works the best! I'm pretty successful with improving my students (and new students with technique shortage) technique as well as notes reading and theory understanding. Over all I'm sure the talent of playing music is to be shared so I encourage my students to take every oportunity to perform or compete. I like the most the time right before my students recital twice a year, when everyone works the hardest and I can enjoy to see their progress. At that time students can experience the most extraordinary fun of performing music and sharing their talent.

Joanna is very creative teacher. She always finds the way to encourage my son. She never gives up. We always enjoy semianual student recitals with Joanna. It's a great opportunity for the student and a special event for our whole family. She've been teaching my son for 7 years and we look forward for more!

My 6 year old has just started violin lessons with Joanna. She is absolutely wonderful with my young beginner. She is extremely knowledgeable and makes learning fun. My daughter can't wait to see her each week and wants to impress Joanna with all she has learned. Great music room environment for learning a new instrument. We are very excited at our daughters progess and we thank Joanna for her wonderful music program!

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

After graduating Music University of Krakow-Poland, I studied Suzuki teaching method with Music Institute of Chicago.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I grew up in a very musical home. My older sisters were playing instruments. I always wanted to be a musician. I love to play for people so I try to share with my students that performing is more fun than stressful. I discovered my gift of teaching while I was yet a student.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure your potential teacher is a performing musician. Also ask him to let you watch some of his students, so you can be sure they know how to play.
