This review is long overdue, so get ready for a doozy: I was introduced to Mackenzie (Zee) at a photo shoot a couple years ago for a Chicago designer, and was an instant fan of her work. I had the good fortune of being in a couple fashion shows that she was a makeup artist for after that first meeting, and she never disappointed. Fast track to the present, the month of August 2012 was nearing, and I found myself without a definite "yes" from another makeup artist/hair stylist that I was hoping to use for my wedding day. Being so close to the big day, I was in a bit of a panic. I contacted Zee, and she told me she would be available. I couldn't have been happier! After a quick trial, we thought we had a good idea of what would be done with my hair. By the time the wedding came around, I had seen too many other hairstyles to stick with the one we tried. I totally and completely left my wedding look in her hands, not having a clue of how it would turn out. August 11th arrived. Zee was a Godsend. She showed up to our hotel perfectly on time and quickly got to work. In a very short amount of time, I had the most amazing wedding makeup and hair anyone could ever ask for. I looked natural, but still somehow flawless and my hair was glorious and fuss-free! I hands-down looked absolutely the most beautiful I have ever looked, but without feeling fake or done up. She smudge-proofed and water-proofed me from brow to decolletage; this proved useful, as once I got to the bride's room at the church, I couldn't stop crying! Not ONE person noticed- after wiping and crying, rinsing/repeating, not a stitch of makeup was out of place. To summarize, I walked down the aisle and looked up at the man I was about to marry (who happens to notice things like clumpy mascara). I have never been so nervous in my life... He looked at me and said "You look absolutely perfect." Zee is all you need.

Mackenzie was amazing to the girls and me while we were getting ready for my wedding day. For example, I had no idea how long our hair would take. She saw my time restraint and brought along a colleague, which made the process go smoothly. Every time I have communicated with Zee, it has always been in a professional and kind manner. I was also the crazy bride that wanted to change my styling into something completely different the day of - even we had a really great practice run. Mackenzie was a gem and said, "No, problem. We can do it." :)

As a video production company, we have a constant need for hair and makeup on set. Since meeting Zee in early 2012, we have called on her for every single job since. Her skills in her craft are unmatched and her dedication is clear. No matter how easy or complicated the job is, she approaches is with excitement and passion. It's not just that she is good at what she does, she makes the set more enjoyable and the people around her on set are generally happier. Although we don't want anybody else to find out about her, we want you to know she's worth it. A great talent that you should definitely consider for hair and makeup. Just don't take her for too long!
