Everyting was done perfectly! I have used services in the past but Whitetail Landscape did a superb job! From the first meeting to discuss what needs to be done and to wrapping it up on going over what was completed. You definitely have to give this company a call if you want your lawn and leaf removal service done right.

Antonio was the first to respond to my request on Thumbtack and we met the following moring. He did an excellent job and did all that I asked as I have 6 very large and mature oak trees in my yard. I told him that we would speak in the spring to discuss yard cleanup and other services that he provides.

Robert and his landscaping team did a great job and I’m more than satisfied. I needed mulch, flowers planted, bushes removed, edging , and shrubs trimmed. They even planted some extra flowers that I picked up last minute. Very knowledgeable and precise in execution. Definitely will hire again.

Joe trimmed our big trees thoroughly despite the fact they were a bit difficult to get to. His fee was fair and he was great about communicating with us. Knowing that he can provide other services in addition to the trees will make our choice easy when working through our "to do" list. Glad we found Joe!

These guys are the hardest working landscapers I’ve employed. They know what they’re doing, they don’t rush things and they do a very good job. So far they have completed the Spring cleanup, edges about 1/2 acre of trees and flowerbeds, as well as deliver & install some high quality mulch.

The Sandoval Landscaping Services team exceeded my expectations!! The work to be done was a total removal of all garden beds, removal of an old tree stump, removal of a silver lace vine, removal of a trumpet vine and then application of a systemic killer. Not easy work!! They were prompt and on-time for the appointment to review the required work and presented a more than reasonable quotation prior to leaving. On the arranged day to perform the work they were punctual even showing up a little early because of the possible threat of rain during the day. Their work was amazing. Everything was removed and hauled away and prior to leaving the sidewalks, driveway and street were blown clean of any small debris. This is a team that deserves the highest rating possible and without question I will use them in the future.

T.R. Scapes did a fantastic job with my backyard. It was in TERRIBLE shape! Overgrown big time and the whole yard looked like a jungle. They removed a tree stump, trimmed my tree's, took out all the weeds and buckthorn that was everywhere in the yard. It now looks completely different and so much bigger and clean looking. Looks fabulous. My only disappointment was that I had asked for sod for the entire front and backyard. I only received two areas of sod in the backyard. Overall they are fabulous for cleaning up your yard. Mine was a true mess. Everyone extremely polite, very hard working and professional.

Tree Guys were very professional when I contacted them to quote me on a tree removal. I was concerned about how my yard was going to look after the work was complete and i have to say that I'm very pleased. The tree is gone but not a lot my money. Great service for a very reasonable price.

Patrick responded the same day I posted my request for help with a severely overgrown garden. When he came over to give me an estimate (on a Saturday!) he was also ready to work. His quote was amazingly affordable and he started work that day. He has done a beautiful job so far and I'm very much looking forward to hiring him for a lot more work in the future! He's a super- personable, hard working young man and I predict he's going to be very successful in the future.

Julian and his team were great! The job wasn’t too complicated, just some spring clean up and shrub removal at mine and my mother in law’s house. Julian was quick to respond, showed up on time for the estimate and job, and we are all very pleased with the quality of work. Our neighbors ended up using them a few days later and we’ll continue to recommend and use them in the future.

I am so excited, this giant tree was removed from our yard today. Sun on the pool all day long! There's a person up in the tree, kind of hard to see. No more sap, needles or pinecones. The branch Phil called the widow maker is gone! These guys did a great job! Thank you, Crowley Tree Experts! Great price too! Highly recommend them!!! Come on summer!

Andy hasn’t actually done snow removal for me yet, as there has not been enough for it to be plowed. However, I very much appreciated Andy’s quick response to my request at Thumbtack. He was professional and courteous in phone calls and our face to face meeting. His rates are fantastic and I look forward to working with him this winter.

I hired Olvera Tree Service and Landscaping 2 years ago and my landscaping has never look better. My grass is healthy, grub free and green. I had them take down several trees and was amazed at the skillful and careful way they cut the branches. The crew installed my mulch before a party and stayed late to make sure it was perfect. I highly recommend them for all your landscaping needs.

Joe was easy to work with, providing proof of insurance information up front so I didn't have to go chasing after it. The crew was quick, efficient and professional. My large ash tree (dying from the emerald ash bore epidemic) was down and the stump ground out in a little over two hours. His rates were very reasonable, and the work was done to my satisfaction. I would recommend him to anyone needing tree service.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
