I am a wedding and portrait photographer serving all of the Chicago area and offering a high level of customer service.
My style is a mix of traditional and contemporary photojournalism. I love to capture the emotion and special moments but also understand the importance of traditional portraiture that will stand the test of time.

Absolutely blown away with Susan and her work! She photographed our wedding on 9/9/2016 and we got the pictures back less then four weeks later! They are stunning! They are crisp, capture so much emotion and she was so easy to work with. She was very thorough and very receptive to my list of "must have" pictures. For a person who is obsessed with photos and enjoys playing with my Nikon in my down time, her and her second photographer Nancy she selected for the day exceeded my hopes 100x. Thank you again!

Wow, talk about making a joyous time period in my life even MORE joyous! My fiance and I got together with Susan in our favorite Chicago park a few weeks ago to take engagement photos and it was the most wonderful experience! She was not only really friendly and easygoing, but also so cool! We briefly talked before the session just to break the ice and we immediately hit it off. But on to the photos themselves...Susan's work was absolutely beautiful! Her photos came out exactly the way we wanted them too, really capturing the essence of our first date in that same park, which was so important to us! Susan was not only fun to work with, but she was professional and really knew what she was doing. She led the session in a way that was completely passionate and respectful of our wants and needs. It felt so nice to have some guidance while still feeling like our desires were being met every step of the way. Thank you, Susan, for such a wonderful time and beautiful engagement photos!

Finding Susan was probably one of the greatest aspects of wedding planning. After a bad experience with another local photographer from a different website, my then-fiance and I were quite stressed out and worried about finding a good photographer that was within our budget. We had considered going with a big, corporate company, thinking that they would be more professional, only to discover that there was no guarantee of the quality of the photos we would receive, due to not knowing who would be editing our photos, even if we were allowed to choose our photographer.
Susan's work is amazing, she was willing to work with our budget, she was reliable and timely, and most of all, we knew we would receive high quality products. We were able to view photos of previous recent events (weddings, engagements, etc) on her website, as well as an entire album of a wedding that had little editing done, to see what her photography was like. To say the least, it was better than a lot of wedding photography WITH editing that I had seen.
Bundled into our quote was both our engagement session as well as photos for our wedding day. We had chosen 2/28/15 as the day for our engagement session, and as it was still freezing outside, she was able to suggest several recommendations for indoor locations. She was also willing to brave the cold with us for the end of it so we could get some other shots that we wanted. The first location we chose was the Chicago Cultural Center. When we arrived, we realized that there were a good amount of people wandering around, and that the lighting was fairly dark. However, Susan was able to work with all those conditions so well that you would've thought from the photos that it was actually very bright. She was also great at helping us feel comfortable in front of the camera and was able to give us good guidance, as both of us are fairly camera shy.
On the day of the wedding, Susan arrived on time and scoped out the venue to find good photo locations. I appreciated that she was able to take the lead on this. Being as experienced as she was, she knew which locations were best for photos (there were some that looked nice and bright to the untrained eye, but would come out too harsh in photos, for example), and we're so glad we trusted her suggestions. Susan also had to adapt to less than ideal lighting for our ceremony and did so fairly well. She worked with our photo shot list, and was experienced enough to make sure our group photos turned out well! She patiently made sure everyone was smiling widely, not blinking, etc with each group to ensure we would have good photos to look back on, and again was able to come up with a wide range of poses for the bridal party and other small suggestions to make each photo look its best (for example, positioning of hands, angling and spacing of people, etc). The only drawback I would say about the entire experience is that some of the photos weren't quite ideal, but that's to be expected with the poor lighting and fast pace of our ceremony, as well as what simply happens sometimes with odd facial expressions when several candid photos are taken. With over 1000 photos, the overall amount of good photos definitely outweighed the less than ideal ones.
Given that Susan was working our wedding alone, it was impressive that she was able to move around and get so many different shots, particularly during the ceremony. It was also quite impressive that she was able to get our photos back to us (mailed on a CD and flash drive, and also available online) in less than two weeks! Given that I have heard stories of people whose wedding photographers did excellent work, but took almost a year to give their clients their photos, I was quite pleasantly surprised. Susan keeps her word and I am so grateful she is so reliable! Overall, I am so happy with her professionalism, experience, and quality of work, and would definitely recommend her.

Susan is easy to work with and very accommodating. She suggests poses for couples for both engagement photos and posed wedding shots. She is also open to your ideas. We loved her clean, crisp photos. It is also amazing at how many shots she was able to get at our wedding. We just had Susan photograph our wedding and she was able to get us back over 1500 shots. We would definitely recommend Susan!
