Introduction: I am very passionate about education. I have learned many lessons on the long road to attending Georgetown University. The road included many struggles. I had to work very hard. I was fortunate to have tutors and mentors who guided me through those struggles. I am very passionate about now helping students the way people previously helped me.
In my tutoring, I work hard to create practice problems and take home materials or study-guides to help my students further master the material.
Along with my tutoring experience, I also have additional experience working with kids and teens in other roles. For 4+ years, I served on the Des Plaines Library's Teen Advisory Board.I also was a volunteer in in the library's Children's Summer Reading Program in 2012 and 2013. I also have extensive experience working with children in hospitals and volunteers of all ages in my role in the nonprofit charity Cards for Hospitalized Kids (CFHK). My work in CFHK has taught me valuable communication, organizational and problem solving skills.
I believe these experiences all enhance my ability to be an effective tutor.
I believe tutoring is an opportunity not just improve a student's skills in a particular subject but also to help a student build strong academic skills that will help them overall. (i.e: organizational, studying, etc.)
