About
I'm located in Morton Grove and do both in and out-calls. $35/hour in-house, $60/hour out. I am a guitarist and bassist of 10 years who has graduated with a Bachelor's in Music from Lake Forest College. I've had a nice mix of private and classroom lessons as well as live band experience over the decade, and I'd love to teach you all the essential skills of guitar, bass guitar, or both: Physical skill, rhythm, lead, improvisation, theory, songwriting, and anything else that interests you. My areas of greatest experience are rock, metal, and jazz, but I'm prepared to help you understand any type of music you bring me.

Joel taught me for a couple years while we were in college. I didn't know anything about music or guitar but he was always patient and kind with me even when I didn't deserve it haha. He helped me learn all the Kansas and Skynyrd songs I wanted to play but would also make sure I understood what the chords meant and why they were what they were. He's pretty apt with all the technical theory stuff!

I was friends with him in the music department at lake forest college. I knew a bit of piano but wanted to learn guitar so he showed me a bunch of cool stuff!! Hes really smart and funny but a good teacher and he'll teach you too!!!

I really like how understandable he made everything. he's very polite and is good at showing you things like chord and song breakdowns and how all this stuff really works, not just flat memorization.
