FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Being an actively involved member of the American Disc Jockey Association, going to national conferences, going to monthly chapter meetings, spending time on the Mobile Beat DJ forum are all great ways to stay intuned with what's happening not just in your town but throughout the country.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was 9 years old I purchased a blue Panasonic transistor radio with money made from my paper route. There were 3 stations that played music that I could get on it and I listened to it all the time. I always wanted to be a radio station DJ growing up. I thought it was the coolest job possible. I grew up 2 blocks from one of those stations. Plus I had older syblings so I got schooled on music at even a much younger age.... just had to listen to what they wanted until I got my radio. Man if we had iPods back then....
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Wedding receptions! Of course that is my primary focus as I really enjoy doing them but they make up a huge percentage of the jobs I work each year. I like the additional interaction and working with the wedding party. The wider variety of music, and over all fun of the event.
