- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
1. Our quotes are generated based off the info the customer provides in their request. If the info is vague or incomplete it may require us to ask questions to determine an estimate that is as accurate as possible. The best and fastest way for us to both be on the same page is a phone call to discuss the project. 2. Changing locks vs. re-keying locks... Many people think they want new locks or their locks "changed" but it is possible to change just the keys so the current ones no longer work. We call that re-keying. It is always cheaper than changing your old locks out for new ones because you don't have the added hardware cost.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will almost always give you an estimated price for the work you request based on the info you provided. The more info you provide explaining what you want done or the problem you're having, the easier it is to quote accurately. A picture of what you have can be worth a thousand words in many cases. We like to discuss the project with you over the phone briefly so we are clear on exactly what you want and you have the opportunity for us to explain everything that our quote involves in a way that makes sense.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been working as a locksmith since 1999. I have a diploma from the only accredited locksmith school in Illinois. I worked as a locksmith while completing my Associates degree from Moraine Valley and later my Bachelors degree from the University of Michigan. I've gone through training and testing to receive the certification of Certified Professional Locksmith from the largest national trade association for locksmiths in the United States. I've taken more than 20 elective training courses in the field of locksmithing & security hardware in my time in this industry. I'm licensed through the state of Illinois and have held officer positions in the Illinois-Indiana Locksmith Association.
