FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have 4 packages for weddings. The first package starts at $600.00, and although is my entry level package, it is far from 'basic'. With it you get the use of 2 top of the line JBL speakers with 15" woofers. They produce a wonderful sound capable of filling a room and more. Each one is supported by a 2,000 watt crown ampllifier. A standard in the portable music equipment world. WIth that I include 1 light stand with 3 different lights. Typically a wash light to provide adequate light to the dance floor, a moving head for a special elegant pop of light and a derby style light to scatter lights across the room for excitement. They are all independantly controlled from the DJ booth and can be set to different styles. I can swap or change out lights as requested as I have over 21 different lights. The packages increase in value til my full 10 foot wide arch truss system. This includes 'truss warming' lights that appear to make the truss glow in any color you wish, or they can be set to change to the music. As well as any combinations of lights attached to it. I also include 2 18" subwoofers, once again from JBL and Crown to complete the package.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I enjoy meeting with the bride and groom at least 3 times. The first time is a no pressure meeting to see if we are compatible. Just as you want to see if I fit your needs for the evening, I also want to make sure I am confident in my own ability to match your needs. If I do not feel it is something I can do to a professional standard I will let you know. I will also provide a binder with top requests and information that can be used in the reception planning. I have a 4 page sheet that goes over all the questions and information I need to help the reception and timeline flow. If at the end of the meeting you wish to reserve that date, I do require a deposit of $100.00 at that time. The second meeting, we will start to work through your answers to the 4 page worksheet, and finalized which DJ package you wish you have at your event. Any special requests or changes can be addressed at that time. I will also start working on special song selections and pronounciations of names for the bridal party introduction. The third meeting, will finalize all of our choices and the worksheets. At this time the final payment would be due and I would play through each special requested song in their entirety to make sure it matches the song you wish to have. These meetings are flexible and if needed or requested additional meetings can be arranged. In the alternative for busy life styles, I do have an online planning form that can alleviate the necessity of at least 1 of the meetings, however I feel I get a better understanding of the bride and groom by meeting in person.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
When I was 14 I was given a budget from a local high school to design and purchase all of the sound system equipment for their dance team and for the dance invitationals. For all of the home basketball games and the dance invitation myself and another student would setup, run and then store the equipment. After that, I went to Purdue and became involved at the on campus radio station. I quickly became the chief engineer and was responsible for all of the wiring and arrangement of equipment. We also had a mobile DJ setup (however basic) for special events on campus. From there, I attended Law School and took a few years away from direct contact in the music and sound fields. Afterward, I was asked by a local church to DJ events for middle school children. I quickly formed my LLC and company as it is today and purchased equipment suitible for that event. I have evolved into a focus on weddings since that time. A friend of mine asked if I could DJ his wedding and I was reluctant at first. I did extensive research into all aspects and traditions for weddings. I did agree to DJ his wedding, and instantly loved the process and excitement. Since that time seven years ago, I focus only on weddings. I keep up to date on all the improvements made on lighting and sound equipment.
