AJ and his team at Landmark Hardscape did a great job from start to finish for our pressure washing and paver sealing needs. AJ was able to provide an accurate estimate while laying out timing, materials and how the project will look. He left no stone unturned as his attention to detail was top notch. He even came back to ensure the project looked perfect and if we were satisfied. Which we were. My wife and I were also pleasantly surprised at AJ's communication, performance and follow up, something which is currently lacking amongst area Hardscape services.. We highly recommend AJ and the team at Landmark Hardscape to complete any of your Hardscape needs to your full satisfaction!

My wife and I just bought a new house and the yard had been neglected for many months. Imagine an acre of land with waist high grass/weeds and 25% of the driveway covered by overgrowth, just to name a couple issues. Brian gave a more than fair price, especially for the amount of work that needed to be done. He was on time and has new, reliable equipment. After an hour and a half of work our yard looks like it could be featured in a magazine! We love it so much. The next morning my wife and I ate breakfast on our porch so that we could enjoy Brian's awesome work! Thanks Brian and we will be using you again.

We hired The lawndromat last week to come and pressure wash our driveway, house and walkway to front porch. Not only was the price reasonable but the quality was outstanding!! They even went as far as pressure washing our brick border on our flower bed! All in all a great service, $50 cheaper than the guy I paid to do it last year and a better job.

Burlington Concrete Construction Inc. did a FANTASTIC job on my driveway. Previously, my 1940's house did not have a driveway, so I desperately needed one. When I contacted Networx-Concrete Contractors, Randy was the only contractor who took the time to contact me immediately. Upon arriving at my home to do an estimate, he was professional, helpful, and efficient. When I vacillated on what I wanted, he was patience and gave me multiple quotes for a variety of options. More than anything, he gave me a very fair deal. I base that on the fact that I had researched the cost of a concrete driveway. When he provided me his offers, I was very pleased with his prices, and I knew I could not find a better offer or person to do the job. He and his crew completed the work in less than 3 days, and I am so happy with the work he did. I particularly enjoyed the concrete stamping, which created a gridded appearance instead of just plain concrete. It fit with the architecture and character of my home, and that is what his company did. For the first time, it felt like a home that I could actually invite people over to, and they would not have to trample through my muddy front yard. The job is beautiful, and I cannot recommend him or his company enough to, literally, anyone who asks about my awesome driveway.

The owner employs 2 young men when 3 seems more appropriate for the massive amount of work of laying a double wide residential driveway. The owner, Mr. Wainwright, supervised and clearly knows his trade, but a little personal "elbow grease" per him would have sped up the work and assuredly would reduce his high risk of CV disease by reducing his weight. He likely has metabolic syndrome, which is a huge killer. His young associates NEED this job (one has been w/ him 17 years and is now 30). The other must be 27 and has 3 children: one is only 30 days old! Both are true "masons," as it were, and both deserve more praise, assistance, and........a higher salary. Charles, do not let you business evaporate and close. Encourage your 2 fine men and consider making them paid partners! They have NO benefits!!!

Walker Footing did an excellent job on my pavers. I really liked how professional and fast they were at getting the work done. They also saved me some money and quoted me a very fair price. I would definitely go with them again for any paver or concrete work I get done in the future.

I would definitely recommend their services. One of the few companies in Jacksonville who even bothered to show up for the estimate appointment. They were on time, gave me a fair quote and took their time explaining the materials they were going to use. Afterward, they sent me an email with a before and after computer picture of what our driveway would look like. Their crew cleaned up the area every day. Great experience!

I needed my driveway extended, a walk path put from the front to the back, and a ramp installed. The owner came, gave an estimate and started the work immediately. As long as weather was permitting he was here early in the morning until it was finished. He answered any and all questions that I had throughout the job. He was very thorough and I have gotten many compliments from my neighbors and visitors about the concrete work that he has done. I would definitely use him and his company again.

It will provide an easier surface for maintenance.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

        What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time. When hiring a paving contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

        • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
        • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
        • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
        • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
        • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
        • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
