Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My work stands out from the rest because I take the time to research the music to make sure that it is fitting for an event. In addition, I always take the time to meet with you before an event to find out just exactly how you want your event conducted. Everyone has different tastes so your instructions are important to me. I listen to every detail of what you want to accomplish. I love to make people happy. I am a singer as well so naturally, seeing smiles from the audience is what strives me to do better and better every time. This is more then just a service to me, it is a performance. Excitement and crowd interaction is what I love most!!! When I know I have pleased the audience, I know that I have done the job I have been asked to do.

I would certainly not recommend Say it With Music DJ Services to anyone in need of a DJ service. We were in need of a DJ for our annual employee recognition banquet. I was first in contact with the DJ about 5 months prior to our event. We exchanged several e-mails regarding our event, pricing, etc. After we confirmed that we would like to book him for our event, he e-mailed me a contract. I e-mailed the signed contract back and mailed our deposit check. About a week before our event, I contacted him confirming the date and some other specific details regarding the event. We wanted “walk out songs” to play while our employees walked up to the stage to receive their awards that the employees were able to choose. I e-mailed him the list of names with songs and a general flow of how we wanted the music played. I asked if any songs were an issue and he stated he had “an endless library with the internet.” The evening of the event arrived and about 30 minutes before the event I still hadn’t seen or heard from him. I called the number on the contract and reached him while he was at work at a different job. He had mixed up dates and thought the event was on Saturday, when really we were scheduled for Friday. After much back and forth he finally agreed to show up, but would be there about an hour after the event started. We served dinner before the awards, so we were able to get through the first hour without him. When he showed up, he had to set up, which was of course a distraction to our guests. Once he got set up I confirmed that he had the list of songs to play and what order they needed to be played in. He said that we would have to work on it, because he planned on doing in the morning before the event. When he finally did get most of the music in order, he was missing a song. We had to ask an employee in the middle of the event to choose a different song because he couldn’t find it (even though he had the list earlier in the week and assured me there would be no issues). He was very confrontational about the issue and not willing to accept any fault for having the wrong date, being late, and being unprepared. Even once the music got playing it did not flow well and was obvious to our employees that there was an issue with the music/DJ. We found the date mix-up, the unpreparedness, and confrontational attitude completely unprofessional. We would never use his services again, and would not recommend them to anyone.
Say It with Music DJ Service's reply
I am going to respond to this review as Professionally as possible because I am a Professional. It is true, I had a mix up on the date. I was 30 minutes late because I believed that the date on the contract stated it was on the 6th rather then the 5th. I emailed her a contract but she never sent a signed one back in the mail as promised. I like hard copies because it helps me avoid mistakes like this. I never refused to show up to rectify the mistake as she stated here. In fact, I made arrangements quickly to get the equipment in the truck and on the way. It is true, I was just getting off of work at American Family Furniture. I was selling there. I have had 2 incidents in my 31 years of service to this community where things did not go as perfect as planned. I will be happy to give you those names so you can magnify my few mistakes. I apologize that the late arrival happened but I did arrive as quickly as possible. It appeared to me that they were still eating dinner and showing some slides so I felt I had time to get set up. The Music List was provided to me three different times and changed 3 different times. So, even if it was Saturday, I thought I better show up to make sure we had it in order! I missed one song! ONE! As far as the flow is concerned, Hannah and her associates decided to use the house PA System instead of my Professional Wireless Mics and it was distorted! I could barely hear what they were announcing and the names of the Employees for their theme songs. I am not being critical of the Casino Hotel System but it was distorted! Still things went fairly smooth. I was not perfect on every cue because I could not hear it! I would suggest speaking more clearly!!! It was obvious to me there was a scramble to set this event up and I am merely going to apologize and improve my part. I was not confrontational with anyone. They refused to pay me at the end of the evening and wanted to have a meeting later in the week to discuss how we were going to handle my lateness. The check for my services had been issued by the Company and was at the event. They just were not going to give it to me. It is then that I tried to arrive at a resolution. I did not have the time to set up a meeting later in the week. Words were exchanged professionally as we tried to resolve the issue. Sometimes emotions can convey that someone is being confrontational when actually they are just trying to explain the contract and the agreement. I suggested we agree on a $50 Discount for my late arrival. We agreed. I handed them $50 in cash, they handed me my check. Problem solved. I know that they returned that money to the company as they seemed Professional to me. I was not involved in any incidents after that. Once again, as a Professional, there were problems with this show. I did the best I could to resolve them. I have plenty of references in 31 years! Plenty! So rest assured, things do not always happen this way when planning is done well in advance of an event. I suggest printed contracts and phone verifications. Not email! Remember, if a mistake happens, you do not want to decide fault in front of guests. It just makes everybody look bad. I think both parties handled it professionally. No need to go to court, we arrived at reasonable solution. I just apologize for my mistake in this matter and yes, I made a mistake on the date and did not have one song. My fault! The flow of the event requires additional set up time and good equipment.
