I'm so glad the other electrician didn't respond to me, otherwise I wouldn't have met Paul. I needed 3 ceiling fan/lights wired and installed in a house I just moved in. I inquired about it on Thumbtack on Wednesday. I got an introduction from Paul the same morning. I texted him the same day and he was able to come out the same evening to give me an estimate. The price was so reasonable that I had to throw in some recessed lights to the project. He was so flexible and is able to work with me and my tight schedule. The project was completed in about 5+ hours that same week. Paul and his friend Don was really entertaining to talk to as well. Both of them were very friendly and courteous. He was thorough and made sure everything working the way it was supposed to before he left. He even came back right away to make sure he didn't leave my garage door wires unconnected. I would definitely recommend him to many others and once I have someone I like, I will always use the same person again and again. Paul, you just earned yourself a lifetime customer. :)

Mark has personality+. Very nice guy and did a fine job installing the interior doors and a barn door. He left the house as clean (maybe cleaner) than he found it when he arrived. He responded to us quickly and rearranged his schedule to fit our need for a 'rush' job. We appreciated his ability to work with us. The job was quoted through Thumbtack lower than the actual quote after he came to see the project.

Courtney was very professional. He gave me written estimates and a contract. He kept to the time frame we discussed. He checked in with me about the weather, since this was an outside project. He power washed the house and deck, sanded the deck and painted it. Repaired and painted the mailbox. He is currently installing new deadbolts on my doors. He has done an excellent job and I am so happy to have found him. I will definitely use him in the future.

Jeff built a custom storage room in our garage to house our mechanicals (furnace, hot water heater & water softener). It includes two main louver doors to provide sufficient air flow and plenty of room to for technicians to access the units. And it includes a unique shelving arrangement for additional storage items. We are very pleased with Jeff’s work and would recommend him to anyone who wants quality carpentry work done at a reasonable price.

Jan arrived to assist with rekeying the lock on my front door ... only to discover she was unable to remove the handle set without destroying it, because someone (prior to my ownership) chose to pour epoxy into the deadbolt assembly. This took awhile to assess, and also required a second locksmith to arrive to assist her in determining options. We agreed on a reasonable sum for her trouble, but I now have to go buy a new handle set, destroy the current handle set to get it off, harm the door, repair the door, paint the door, and install the new handle set. NONE OF THIS is Jan's fault. She did all she could. It just sucks that I was unable to solve my problem with her service call. I've been here for almost two months now and was looking forward to finally getting this checked off my "to do" list. Oh well. Jan is great and I'd hire her again in a heartbeat for any other rekeying needs. This job just had a hidden surprise that none of us would have suspected.

I have used All Done service many times for replacing a door my dog ate, cleaning a bird's nest out of my dryer vent, repairing the dryer (that broke because of the bird's nest), dog walking, lawn care, pressure washing my fence and driveway, and moving. Channing is very professional, responds quickly, and makes sure you are satisfied with his work before he leaves.

Affordable Home Solutions has been both reasonably priced and reliable. Bob and Mike have done several jobs for me. Bob rebuilt a storage barn door, replaced siding, mitigated water problems I was having in my basement and helped me find resources to locate a small gas leak. Most recently Bob and Mike remodeled my basement including demolition of the existing basement, putting up drywall, adding a new wall and doors to separate utilities from usable space, adding electrical outlets and lights and painting an epoxy floor. I have been very impressed with the quality of their work and their work ethic. I will hire them again.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How does a locksmith open a locked door?

Locksmiths use specialized tools and techniques to open your door in the case of lockouts or lost keys. Trained locksmiths can pick your door lock with lock-picking tools such as a rake, a tension wrench, a half diamond or a hook. They may use a technique called bumping, which will work on pin tumbler locks, or as a last resort they may use a drill to remove your existing lock. The national average locksmith price ranges between $70 and $100. A locksmith can also replace your current lock system, re-key your locks if you have lost your keys, repair a broken lock, install a deadlock and more. Locksmiths not only help with front doors, they can help if you are locked out of your car, locked out of your mailbox, locked out of your shed … you name it. There may be an additional charge for emergency after-hours locksmith services. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have a deadbolt lock installed?

Installing a new deadbolt lock can improve your home security, especially if you think your current lock system has been compromised or there are unaccounted-for copies of your house keys in circulation. A professional locksmith can install a new deadbolt for you in a matter of hours. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Locksmith prices for installing deadbolts may be higher based on whether the professional provides the lock or you have it on hand, how many components the locking system includes, and how long the installation takes. The cost to purchase a lock yourself from a big-box store can range from approximately $70 to $225 or more, depending on quality and materials. Higher-security locks often take longer and therefore cost more to install.

How much does it cost to make a new key for a car?

Locksmiths’ prices for making new car keys can vary depending on the make of your car as well as the time of day and location. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100, but duplicating a key may cost as little as $30, while extraction a key stuck in the ignition, cutting a new key and programming the fob can cost much more.

You might need a new car key if you have lost your key, the key broke in the ignition, the key is bent or damaged, or you just want a duplicate in case of emergency. You can request a duplicate of a key you have on hand, or you can have a new key made or cut if you have lost your original car keys. If you need to replace lost keys, you’ll need to first provide proof that you are the owner of the car along with the vehicle identification number (VIN). If you’re just locked out of your car but don’t need a key made, a locksmith may charge $65 to get you back in. Locksmith car key services are often far more affordable than dealership prices for new keys.

How much does it cost for a car locksmith?

There are several reasons you may need a car locksmith. You may be locked out of your car (either with the keys inside or with no keys at all), you may have lost your car keys and need a new key, or you may want to make a duplicate car key. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Getting locked out of your car can be scary and overwhelming — especially if it’s cold and dark out. Fortunately, professional locksmiths provide round-the-clock assistance to help people in these circumstances.

Car lockouts are one of the main reasons people need a locksmith. Your locksmith’s price can depend on the type of car you have, the time of day (or night) it is, and where you are located. Locksmith pricing may be based on a flat rate, or pricing may be quoted to you after the locksmith determines the circumstances. For example, a flat rate for a car lockout could be $65 for standard vehicles. That price could be higher for after-hours or long-distance service, or service during extreme weather. If you have entirely lost your car keys, a locksmith can make you a new car key, but first they must verify that you are the owner of the car. Locksmiths can even program new car key fobs for you — often at a lower price than a dealership.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
