FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have two methods of payment. I go over these with the client and we chose the on we feel is best for them. I think because I do my own ordering, billing, and accounting I can save my clients money. This allows me to pass on that savings to my clients. My prices are fair and lower than the average Designers pricing. I have access to thousands of items that are not available to the average consumer. By passing on the considerable discount I can offer, my clients can save a substantial amount savings!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My Initial consultation is always free of charge. This is a time for us to get to know each other and decide if we are good fit. The consultation usually last one to hours ( depending on the size of the project ). We also use this time to discuss how the spaces will be used and by whom. Most importantly, I listen to your wants and needs. This is your home, not mine. It must reflect your personality! I start my work for you after we have signed a contract. If requested, I will produce visual mood boards for each room. If we are painting, I always construct a color board. This is not only for you but for the painter to follow. It will list each room, have paint chips, and all the information of what vendor to purchase from, the item numbers, and the finishes and sheens.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two Degrees. A BA from Hanover College and a Degree in Interior Design from the Art Institution. I worked at L.S. Ayres as Fashion Coordinator for twenty five stores in the Indianapolis and Cincinnati areas. After Ayres was bought out by another retail store, i worked as a buyer for the largest volume area in the stores. After getting married and having children, I worked as an artist and floral designer. My work was sold in six high end boutiques and stores. and was commissioned by individual clients and designers. I soon started doing interior design. I loved Interior Design. When I divorced i went back to school full time to learn all the nuts and bolts of the business. My business took off quickly. Most of my clients came from word of mouth. i made the decision to start also using Thumbtack to broaden my range. I have been fortunate to have so may wonderful clients! I never stop educating my self by reguraly attending workshops, seminars, and reading everything I can get my hands on.
