My daughter's confidence in math has greatly improved because of Laila. Before the coaching sessions started, Laila and I discussed the areas my daughter struggled with to create a plan of action. My daughter looks forward to every session and has been doing great in math. Book Laila. It will be one of the best decisions you ever made. I can't say enough good things about her.Dec 22, 2019VerifiedLaila Alieh: Math Tutor & Coach's reply
Thank you Regina!! You are such a loving and giving mother. This is why your daughter is and will continue to be successful. She has a strong willed determined mother. Thank you for your sweet words. I had a lot of fun supporting your daughter.
Laila was great with my daughter and made her feel comfortable enough that she was able to open up to her about her Triginometry struggle. Laila was able to diagnose the problem on the first session. Laila was very thorough with me on our initial contact and as well as after the first session. Thank you Laila!Nov 5, 2016VerifiedLaila Alieh: Math Tutor & Coach's reply
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It's a pleasure helping your daughter and help her out any way I can. I love to help her succeed.
High School Math Tutoring (Grades 9-12)
I have been very impressed with Laila as my son's Algebra 2 math tutor. She is very conscientious and cares a great deal that my son is understanding the material and doing well. She took it upon herself to contact his teacher to review the class material and determine what is expected from the class. She has a very friendly personality and is extremely qualified and enthusiastic. She cares more than any tutor I've ever met. If my son understands the material for the week, she does not require a session, just advance notice. Very fair! She's been very flexible with us and has evening hours.Oct 27, 2016Verified
Layla is wonderful at relating well with the student she is tutoring and provides great advice on how students can face their homework challenges! I highly recommend her!Nov 17, 2016Verified
I took Pre Calculus twice in high school and twice in college and failed all four times. This was my fifth time taking this course. I was distressed, but also determined. Laila was my saving grace. I needed to pass the course in order to take my higher level science classes that I needed for my major. Laila went above and beyond for me. She made me feel confident in my work. She helped me make cheat sheets for studying and helped me work on study guides. She doesn't just give you all the answers, because you will never learn that way. She makes you work for it, which is how it should be! She is amazing at coaching and helping you get organized. She worked around my school and work schedule, since I am both a full-time student and a full-time employee. She is stern and strict, but also crazy fun and down to Earth. I am pleased to say I finally passed this class and I cannot thank her enough! If you need a tutor, I encourage you to choose this intelligent and inspiring woman.Jun 8, 2017VerifiedLaila Alieh: Math Tutor & Coach's reply
Chloe!!! I love your energy!! You did it. I am honored to have received such a lovely review but more importantly it makes me happy that you passed and are ready to pursue your dreams and make it happen. This is why I love doing what I do. Keep reaching for the stars!!!!
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My regular price is very fair given my background and understanding of where the student is in their level. I use to struggle with math and had to get a tutor to be where I am today and get my dream job at NASA. I do require to have a consultation with my student in person and online before we can discuss next steps. My initial meeting with the student is longer and will not over charge so the student gets to know who I am and we get a chance to learn each other's personality. Once we realize we can work together we can move forward.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?1. I do an initial consultation and go over the students work and areas of difficulty to ensure I know the subject 2. Then we review the students lesson plans 3. Go over a couple math examples slowly, breakdown the problems into sections to help the student dissect and gain a better understanding of the problem. 4. Finally I have the student workout the problem alone and I have them talk it through with me.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I'm an engineer. I got my Bachelors in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Portland State. I worked for NASA Kennedy Space Center for 4 years. I have passed me Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and am now an entrepreneur.
