Dan helped with photography at my daughter, Saanvi's 1st first birthday party... and it was such a pleasant experience from the get go! To begin with, Dan asked the right questions on our first call to prep for his assignment, and based on details provided (100+ guests, some of whom may show up at different times; multiple mini-events to be held; requirement to have different aspects of the party captured including decoration, food etc.), Dan suggested we go with a photojournalistic method wherein he'd go about taking pictures randomly and, in the process, try to capture as many important moments as possible. And he did that, and more! In spite of there being a considerable crowd with multiple activities happening (simultaneously, at times), Dan managed to capture some beautiful, candid shots from the party. He also stayed back well beyond the committed time to take additional pictures when some of our friends and family insisted on having more taken! All this while taking lesser than the amount we agreed upon, as we both were short of change! And did I mention, it was a great bargain in the first place! I must also add that the lighting was pretty poor at the venue we chose for the birthday party - we honestly didn't see that coming as we had originally inspected the place during the day! However, Dan still managed to click some wonderful pictures for us, which is a testimony to his photography skills. Thank you, Dan, for helping capture some of the most memorable moments from the party in the most professional manner possible. We have all fallen in love with the pictures and look forward to working with you again! Cheers! :)

Dan did our two daughter's head shots. He was able to get some really great photo's, with beautiful backgrounds. There were so many that it was difficult to choose our favorites! Dan made sure that we met our deadlines, and assisted in the editing as needed.

Dan is not only a wonderful photographer but he is also a very friendly and warm person. He made the experience enjoyable (and I am a person who doesn't particularly like to get my photo taken). I came across him purely by chance but, I liked his photographic eye so much I thought I would give him a try and I am surely glad that I did. His pricing is very reasonable compared to Memphis market. I will probably go back to get other shots taken with family. Thanks Dan

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I would tell anyone interested in photography to study under a professional photographer that you look up to. Often times you can intern, and learn a ton from them. Many times you don't need to bring your camera, just watch and ask lots of questions if time allows for it. Then I would say invest in your equipment. I definitely don't think you need to purchase top of the line, but don't be cheap. Purchase yourself a decent lens that can allow you to grow. Try to look at the world differently, like learning to communicate a story with a single image. Learn your settings. Fully understand them, and in order to that you need to practice, practice practice. There are a ton of available resources out there, such as online forums and YouTube videos. I am an avid believer that you can learn photography if you have a passion for it. If you discover that is is something you aren't passionate in then it's time to move on and figure out what you are passionate about. Don't waste time trying to force it, just because you like it. Well that's just my two cents....

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I am always looking for ways to learn more about my profession, equipment and developments. I attend classes, seminars (both in person and on the web), and have a group of professional peers I meet with to discuss photography. I am always striving to stay with the latest in technology and advancements. I'm kind of a photo-geek!

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

I would really want customers to know that I am not only passionate about photography, I am passionate about people. I feel like I've been given an opportunity to share my gift to bring awareness to different social issues both globally and locally. This is why each year I travel to different parts of the world and bring back photos that hopefully inspire change.
