I recently got a DUI and had no idea about how to proceed and next steps. I had heard of Thumbtack so I came on here seeking advice. Faraji was one of the first to respond- he offered to meet me in person to talk through the charges and provide some clarity. He came off as very knowledgeable and personable, so I decided to give him a shot. He was very professional throughout the entire process and was able to negotiate a deal with the prosecutor that alllowed me to put this whole experience behind me. Faraji provided me with a high level of comfort up to and through the court date and I can't thank him enough for his services. Highly recommended all around.

I am still working with Ms. McKinley but so far I have only positive feedback about working with her. She communicates back via email or phone call, she is responsive to suggestions, she doesn’t sugar coat and she will work with you. When working with attorneys, the hardest part is getting them to call you back. She at least notifies you if she is delayed or needs to get back to you, instead of leaving you wondering what is next. I am using her as my divorce attorney. I wouldn’t want any of my friends or family to go through divorce, but if so I would certainly recommend Ms. McKinley.

Both of the Attorneys I worked with were very nice and helpful. I had used another attorney and all he did was take as much money as possible from my business. These guys saved me money and solved my issue.

My name is Young B. Kim. I am a semiconductor designer at Samsung Electronics. I was referred to Attorney Chang by a number of my colleagues at Samsung and from International SoC Design Conferences. Initially I contacted Attorney Change regarding my qualification under National Interest Waiver and get my green card via that route, but Attorney Chang recommended me to take the route of doing the First priority person of extraordinary ability. We submitted the EB1 petition with premium processing and it was approved exactly 7 days after the submission!!! I was so happy that I will be immigrating with my family to the US- The interview at US embassy at Korea was a breeze, took about 5 minutes. Even though Aaron carefully went over what I will be asked at the Embassy, I didn't get to do any of the explanations to the embassy officer. I will be moving to Portland, Oregon the new job in August!!! Highly recommend Attorney Chang for his expertise!!!"

I have used Mr. Traub twice and he has also worked with my mother in the past. He is a fantastic attorney who truly cares about his client and their outcome. Mr. Traub is selfless, professional and astonishingly knowledgeable when it comes to the law. I wouldn't trust another attorney with a civil or criminal case. He is truly impeccable, a one-in-a-million attorney. I would highly recommend.

About

My name is Gabriel Assaad. I'm originally from Rochester, New York and now call the DC area home. After graduating from High School, I wanted to get out of the cold weather so I enrolled at the University of Miami, Florida. I graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1996 and accepted a position with a consulting firm. I'd always wanted to go to Law School, so I sent applications to the top 25 Law Schools in the country. I told myself whichever school accepted me first, that's the school I was going to attend. Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee was the first to accept me, so I packed my bags and moved to Nashville. I received my law degree in 2001 and then accepted a position with Dickstein Shapiro, LLP, a large law firm in Washington, DC. I focused on Patent Litigation while with Dickstein Shapiro and it's where I had my first taste of litigation. In 2004, I joined Paulson & Nace, a Washington, DC based Personal Injury Law Firm. I represented clients in personal injury, medical malpractice and product liability matters and found that I enjoyed it immensely.... and was very good at it. That's when I decided to open my own law firm, and in October 2008, I did just that. In just a few short years, I've earned a solid reputation as a top-notch personal injury attorney and am known for caring about one thing and one thing only – my clients. If you or a family member has been injured due to the negligence of someone else, I'd like the opportunity to do the same for you. I can be reached at (202) 741-9348. Just give a call and we'll spend time discussing your situation and what options you have. There is no charge for this call and I will not pressure you in any way. I'll simply answer your questions, ask you a few as well, and if I can help, I will offer to do so. Thank you for stopping by. Professional & Personal Background Married: My wife will graduate from Law School in 2011. Children: One, 6 months old. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer fights on your behalf if you’ve been injured physically, psychologically, economically or in reputation. This injury may be the result of neglect or malicious intent of another person, or it could be at the hands of a business, government or other entity. Personal injury lawyers specialize in tort law, which is the law of civil wrongs like car accidents, company wrongdoing, unlawful imprisonment and more.

To become qualified to be a personal injury lawyer in the United States, a person must earn a bachelor’s degree, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from a law school. Most states then require the person to pass the bar exam to become licensed to practice law. Unlike many attorneys who require a retainer, personal injury lawyers often work on contingency fees. This means that in lieu of payment upfront, they receive an agreed-upon percentage of the settlement in case of a win.

What should you look for in a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer will advocate for your legal rights if you’ve been hurt in an accident at work or in daily life, have suffered from medical malpractice, or are struggling to have your insurance carrier cover your needs. It may be helpful to talk with two or three lawyers before selecting one. When looking for a personal injury lawyer, research their reviews and make sure former clients have had good experiences with them. Next, make sure the personal injury lawyer has experience and proven success winning cases similar to yours. Confirm that the lawyer is licensed to provide services in your state. When you find a qualified personal injury lawyer with whom you want to work, freely discuss payment and fees before any work begins. Most lawyers offer a free consultation to learn what your case is about and explain their rates. Personal injury attorneys typically receive a percentage of your settlement (called a contingency fee), so they are paid after the trial or case is complete. Keep in mind that some attorneys have fees that you must pay even if you don’t win your trial. It’s important to understand these details before work begins so you don’t have any unhappy surprises later. Lastly, it’s wise to choose a personal injury lawyer that you have confidence in and with whom you can communicate openly and honestly.
