I could not believe the expertise and professionalism shown towards my pet as well as towards me. There was some training I also needed. My pet is now relaxed, and obedient when we go for our walks without hardly any prompting from me and it has only been a few days since training. I called him a dog whisperer because I could not believe the change I saw in my pooch. I highly recommend any one who needs assistance in training their pooch how to obey commands and be an absolute joy to be with to use this dog training service. You won't regret it! I know I won't!

This is an absolutely fantastic company. I was super nervous about leaving my puppy to be walked by a stranger but I have been so incredibly pleased with Waggy walkys. I've had two different walkers and both have been so trustworthy, kind, and reliable. I don't ever worry about my baby I know she's well taken care of and loved when I'm not home. On top of that their customer service is great. So so glad that I decided to do this!!! They are awesome here!

Jody was (and still is) a tremendous help! She came prepared with lots of great ideas and information, all of which were extremely helpful. I especially appreciated her advice on making mealtime a fun and educational experience. He has really taken to the games/toys to get his food, rather than gulping it down in 5 seconds. With her guidance, we have registered our puppy for his first kindergarten class. He is off to a great start! We are taking advantage of Jody's new service, in-home puppy sitting. We had hoped to take a vacation this summer, but with a new puppy it did not seem possible. Jody has a great service in which she will stay with your little one, in your home, and continue to work with them. No need for boarding! I am happy to recommend Jody to anyone looking for a wonderful trainer, who obviously loves puppies. I have already given her information to two friends with new puppies.

Canine Dominion is a great company to work with. The owner came to my home and picked up both of my dogs and dropped them off once boarding was completed, which was a awesome feature. During there stay with Canine Dominion, my dogs were trained on basic commands and were well taken care of. The owner even sent pictures of my dogs to keep me updated during there boarding, which made me feel even more comfortable. It was truly a pleasure working with the owner Jauvaurie and I will definitely board my dogs with him again.

Peggi boarded my shih-tzu dog for 9 days. I felt like my dog was “at home” and had the ability to move around and play with other dogs and her toys throughout the day. Peggi sent morning and evening greetings and pictures daily. We were assured that our baby was doing well and was enjoying her stay. I felt like my dog was on vacation while we were on vacation. 😆 She even shared a video which was a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend Peggi without hesitation to anyone who needs boarding services.

Nikki was a great dogsitter for our English bulldog and blue tick hound mix, providing an impressive level of care while keeping us very informed. She visited for a very comprehensive meet and greet before her twice daily visits, her vet tech background is so helpful and our dogs connected with her right away. This was so reassuring to know on our over week long international travels, especially with her many informative and fun, caring email updates, even keeping an eye on our home and caring for our fish as well. We are very happy to have found a wonderful pettsitting service and look forward to using Zorger's Pet Care again soon! Many Thanks, Calista & Jay

Sharon has been a blessing since we moved to Virginia. Our dog, Uno, has very bad separation anxiety, and we cannot leave him at home when we work during the weekend. Sharon watches Uno at her home with her three other dogs, and Uno absolutely loves it. Sharon is kind, punctual, and flexible with her schedule. We honestly don't know what we'd do without her! We would 100% recommend Sharon to anyone looking for honest and reliable dog daycare.

The folks at Pet Peeps were incredible. Gus was on time, well organized, and very good with our cats. He really went above and beyond when we didn't have a spare set of keys and he offered to make a copy for us. All in all, clear animal lovers and also a very well run business. We are so appreciative for their help!

Years ago I took my beagle Petey to Haywood for training. Haywood taught me a lot about what Petey was communicating to me. Things that I didn't think Petey understood when it turned out he was just choosing to ignore me! Haywood helped me strengthen my bond with Petey through positive reinforcement and trust. In training me I learned how to commmunicate with most dogs, and being a pet sitter that's been invaluable. Honestly though, spending that time with Petey was priceless! And Haywood made it fun, and educational as well!

Kim is very professional and sweet, she took care of my kitty cat and chinchilla while we were away for our wedding. I have an incredibly needy cat but he wasn't super desperate when we got home so I could tell he had enough attention. We then used Kim to check on the house and chinchilla while away for our honeymoon. I usually worry a lot about my animals and can get a bit anxious but she was very understanding and I felt relieved to have her with them. I left my cat at a friend's house for our honeymoon but I think if we go on another long trip I will just ask Kim to come back. She has even brought in packages for us and made an extra stop to turn off my ridiculous house alarm so the beeping noise wouldn't bother my chinchilla. Highly recommend. (Oh and she is one of the only pet sitters we have had who isn't scared of the chinchilla. I can tell she is a real animal lover)

We are experienced, insured and bonded, pet first aid certified, and DogTEC-certified dog walker who was featured in Washingtonian Magazine's Guide to the Best Pet Care. Amanda's Pet Care is a premier dog walking and pet sitting service exclusively serving Arlington pets since 2004. Amanda has over 14 years of professional experience in working with all sorts of animals at a zoo, an aquarium, as well as with another pet sitting company before starting Amanda's Pet Care. Our specialty is dog exercise which include midday dog walking, doggie day trips, and our exclusive puppy walk program. We strongly believe that many dog behavioral problems are caused by a lack of both mental and physical stimulation, and we work closely with our clients to ensure that their pets are getting the appropriate training and exercise they need for their breed, age and activity level. At Amanda's Pet Care, we are dedicated to providing the best care for your pets, just as you would. We work closely with each of our clients by staying informed of their pet's care and of any changes in their routine. Our clients value the reliable, personalized service that we offer and our commitment to their pets. All of our clients' pets are treated as if they were our own.

I have just started but have many years of experience with animals. I have 12 dogs, most of them are Pitbulls, but I do have other breeds. I love working with animals.

I have worked in the Veterinary field for the past 4 years, in that time the majority of emergency patients came in because the patient got hit by a car, ate a foreign object, or was in a fight with another pet. Owners pay so much money to fix their now sick pet but all these things can be prevented by good training. Good training actually saves you money.

Panorama loved her since I was a kid. I love dogs and cats, and I like giving my customers a chance to relax.

I'll walk any dog or sit any house or dog. My rates depend on the size of the dog. I'm great with all animals.

I am the best dog walker or pet sitter in the DC area. If you are looking for a reliable person, then you have found me.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does boarding a horse cost?

Finding the right horse boarding location is a big step in a horse owner’s life. This will be the place your horse will live and where you will visit multiple times per week or even daily. The cost of horse boarding will depend on the level of service you desire, the location of the stables, and the luxury level of the property. Here are some examples of average horse boarding costs:

  • Overnight stabling: $30 per horse per night.
  • Partial boarding (owner feeds and mucks): $220 per horse per month, with a three-month commitment.
    • Administration of oral medication: $10 per dose.
    • Bandaging: $20 per event, plus cost of materials.
    • Trailering to vet if owner is unable: $25, plus $25 per hour to wait with horse.
  • Basic full boarding: $325-$350 per month per horse. Includes twice daily hay and daily stall cleaning.
    • Horse training: $20 per session.
    • Pasture turn out: $20 per session.
    • Blanketing: $1 per day/$30 per month.
    • Vet or farrier hold: $20. This means haltering the horse and standing with it as it receives treatment or shoeing.

What is horse boarding?

Horse boarding is like rental housing for your horse. Horse boarding is helpful for people who don’t have the space or the resources to install and maintain a stable on their property. A horse can be housed in a barn with other horses and receive the care they need. Owners can visit their horse for riding, grooming, training, etc. Horse boarding services may vary based on the company and the price. Some horse boarders may offer short-term boarding of 24 hours to several nights for people passing through an area, while most offer boarding by the month for horses whose owners live in the area. There is partial- and full-service boarding, which indicates how much of the work of feeding the horse and cleaning the stall is the responsibility of the owner rather than the boarding barn. For an added fee, horse boarding can also include grooming services, riding and training, medication administration, and more.

To find the right boarding fit for you and your horse, make a list of your top priorities. These might include immediate access to riding trails, round-the-clock supervision, or a nearby or affiliated veterinarian. Always visit the site to learn exactly where your horse will be kept and whether the barn and grounds are in good condition. Read reviews, and always practice smart hiring. It’s also critical to sign the proper legal documents that protect both you and your horse, such as boarding agreements. Above all, make sure it seems like a place your horse will be comfortable between your visits.

Where can I board my horse?

You can board your horse at any barn or stable that provides horse boarding services. To find horse boarding near you, read reviews of area locations and speak with equestrian friends to find one with a solid reputation. Ideally, the location will be within a reasonable drive from your home or office. This is especially important if you are paying for partial boarding services and are responsible for feeding your horse and cleaning its stall each day. You may choose your boarding barn or stables based on the services they provide. Some offer more extensive amenities — at an added price — that reduce the amount of work you need to do to keep your horse comfortable. Consider whether you want training, blanketing, exercise and other perks in addition to standard offerings like hay and stable mucking. Your stable may have temperament requirements and proof that your horse has the proper vaccinations required by your state. This protects both your horse and the other horses in the stable. Many states require that locations offering horse boarding services have stable licenses that are renewed each year. Always be sure to enter into a clearly written boarding contract that will cover your horse and belongings in case of accident, and remember our tips for smart hiring.
